The outstanding Vietnamese farmer in 2024 with the highest revenue is a female clam farming billionaire from Thanh Hoa.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Bien - Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer of 2024 from Thanh Hoa is currently raising and supplying clam seeds and commercial clams with a production area of ​​50 hectares.

Talking about her clam farming model, Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer Nguyen Thi Bien shared: Born and raised in a coastal area, life closely connected to the ocean has helped her and many local people adapt and understand the changes of the tides.

Realizing that her hometown Thanh Hoa sea has a lot of potential and strengths for aquaculture and seafood exploitation, including clam farming, Ms. Bien decided to invest in a clam farming model.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Bien, her family has been in the business of producing and trading clam products since 2005. At that time, the economy was still facing many difficulties, the consumer market had not been expanded, and there was little experience, so the initial investment cost was high.

To gain experience, Ms. Bien traveled to all provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hai Phong to learn about clam farming models. Ms. Bien discovered the reproductive cycle of clams and took advantage of the knowledge accumulated over many years from clams, to the point where she would stimulate reproduction, collect eggs and produce clam seeds, and supply them to the market. This was a significant turning point, deciding much on the effectiveness of clam farming in tidal flats.

After many efforts, struggles, and experience accumulation, with the help of farmers' associations at all levels, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bien's family has expanded the clam farming area to 50 hectares, including 30 hectares for commercial clam farming and 20 hectares for specialized seed production.

Currently, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bien's family is raising clams in many places such as Hau Loc district, Nghi Son town, Thanh Hoa province and other provinces such as Hai Phong city, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh and expanding the consumption market to the Northern and Central provinces.

Every year, Ms. Bien's clam farm provides breeding stock for an area of ​​over 1,000 hectares, with a farming and purchasing output of over 100,000 tons of commercial clams, and Ms. Bien's family has registered to build a product brand. Ms. Bien's clam farming model has a revenue and profit of 5 billion VND/year.

The clam farming model of excellent Vietnamese Farmer Nguyen Thi Bien also creates regular jobs for 80 regular workers with income from 8 million to 10 million/person/month. At peak times, the family attracts 150 seasonal workers.

Among the 63 Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers in 2024, the largest production linkage area belongs to farmer Nguyen Thanh Tuan, Kien Giang province, with 500 hectares.

The highest profit belongs to farmer Nguyen Minh Nhu - Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer of Ben Tre province, with 20.5 billion VND thanks to the shrimp farming model.

This year, the quality of excellent farmers voted is better than every year in terms of scale, revenue, billionaire farmers, many excellent farmers also help people get rich. Many young farmers, women farmers are very excellent in production, typical with great influence.
