According to ComicBook , despite being more than 6 years into its journey, the Nintendo Switch continues to receive major games. Accordingly, publisher Square Enix has announced that a new entry in the Dragon Quest Monsters series will be released on the Switch platform, including in the North American market.
Dragon Quest Monsters is coming to Switch
The announcement comes as part of the 25th anniversary celebrations for the Dragon Quest spin-off, and was revealed in a new trailer. However, no specific release window has been given for the game at this time.
The original Dragon Quest Monsters game was released in Japan on the Game Boy Color on September 25, 1998. About a year and a half later, the game also came to North America, at this point, the series still used the name 'Dragon Warrior' for markets outside of Japan.

Over the past 25 years, the series has had a busy release schedule outside of its native Japan; two Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker games have been released in North America on the Nintendo DS, while the third game remains a Japan exclusive. So the confirmation of Dragon Quest Monsters for the North American market is quite remarkable.
As the name suggests, Dragon Quest Monsters is a monster-taming RPG that bears some resemblance to Pokémon. However, the gameplay will be similar to what players have come to expect from traditional Dragon Quest games. The main difference is that combat will revolve around trained monsters, rather than the game's cast of heroes.
