In the chilly weather of a mid-January morning, at the training and mobile battalion of the Dak Lak Border Guard in the border commune of Krong Na, Buon Don district, dozens of new recruits were actively cleaning and carrying wooden stakes to make fences and markers for the training ground; in the hall, many other new recruits were listening to political lectures, regulations and health checks.
Private First Class Le Thanh Huy (18 years old, from Buon Ma Thuot city) has just joined the army for a few days, sharing that in the first days of service, he was confused and homesick, but with the care and encouragement of his commanders and teammates, his spirit became excited, ready to enter training: "Entering the Training - Mobile Battalion, I was encouraged by the Squad Leaders and Platoon Leaders, guided on how to eat, live, do laundry, sweep the house, fold clothes, cook, follow the rules... according to the style of the Army. Currently, my health and spirit are very good, ready to enter training with the following curriculum: Team regulations, martial arts practice, field tactics, shooting set by the Battalion."
Private Nguyen Xuan Dien (24 years old), from Ninh Diem commune, Ninh Hoa town, Khanh Hoa province, also joined the army this time and was assigned to the Dak Lak Border Guard Training - Mobile Battalion. He confided that his father and brother were also soldiers. Proud of the army's tradition, although he is currently working in the tourism industry with a salary of nearly 10 million VND/month, he still wrote an application to join the army: "Entering the upcoming training period, I will prepare my health and mentality well to complete all the lesson plans assigned by the commanders. My wish is to strive to become a soldier of Uncle Ho's Army, trying to contribute a small part of my youth to my homeland and country."
In this 2024 recruitment season, the Dak Lak Provincial Border Guard Training and Mobility Battalion was assigned the target of training 190 new recruits, of which 70 are from Dak Lak province and 120 are from Khanh Hoa province. Captain Le Anh Vu Nie K'dam - Battalion Commander said that all new recruits this year are assessed to be in good health and have higher educational levels than previous years, so they will be able to absorb the training curriculum better. The Battalion has also fully prepared the conditions for the new training session.
Captain Le Anh Vu Nie K'dam said: "The unit has prepared well for important training contents such as: Team regulations, infantry combat techniques, the content of 3 explosions is AK-71, throwing grenades 71, explosives 71... these contents. We have assigned and given tasks to comrades to develop lesson plans and practice lesson plans to best serve the training work in the classroom. In addition, material preparations such as training grounds and training grounds have also been fully prepared."
During the 47 years of development, the Dak Lak Border Guard Training and Mobility Battalion has conducted 72 training sessions, handing over to the Border Guards of Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dak Nong, Khanh Hoa, Binh Dinh and Quang Ngai provinces, carrying out the task of protecting national border security. At the same time, thousands of local reserve soldiers have also been trained, ready for the task of protecting the Fatherland.
According to Major Pham Kieu Hung - Deputy Battalion Commander, promoting the unit's tradition, this 2024 recruitment season, in order to ensure that new recruits quickly integrate, enthusiastically compete in studying and training, the Party Committee and the Battalion Command have developed a thematic resolution, developed plans, established a framework for receiving and training new soldiers, ensuring the motto "Basic, practical, solid".
Major Pham Kieu Hung shared: "According to the assignment of the Dak Lak Provincial Border Guard Command, right from the beginning, the Party Committee and the Battalion Command identified this as a particularly important task and organized a review of the Party's ideological and educational preparations, facilities for eating and sleeping, and training ground logistics to train new soldiers most effectively."
The weather in Dak Lak in spring, flowers blooming all over the fields, mountains and forests, is also when the dry season becomes harsh. The new recruits of the Dak Lak Border Guard Training and Mobile Battalion will experience the first challenges on the hot and sunny training ground. But with the enthusiasm of youth, these will be necessary experiences to form the qualities of a border guard soldier, aiming to complete the task of protecting the national border security in all working areas.
