On the afternoon of January 25, information from the People's Committee of A Luoi district (Thua Thien Hue province) said that a landslide had just occurred in the area due to heavy rain, burying a house and injuring two people.

Accordingly, the incident occurred on the evening of November 24 in Lam Dot commune (A Luoi district). The house buried by rocks and soil belongs to Mr. Tran Van Khua (born in 1973, residing in Lien Hiep village, Lam Dot commune).

The landslide injured Mr. Khua and his wife, Mrs. A Ho, because they could not escape in time. Wooden beams from the house fell on them, causing injuries and burying them in the rubble. The other 6 members of Mr. Khua's family were able to escape and were safe.

Immediately after the landslide, local authorities and police coordinated with the A Dot Border Guard Station and the 92nd National Defense Economic Group to conduct rescue work, evacuate people, and support the injured to the A Luoi District Medical Center for emergency treatment.

Through examination, the victim Tran Van Khua suffered injuries to the ribs, back and abdomen, and Ms. A Ho suffered minor injuries to the head and arms.

According to a quick report from the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of Thua Thien Hue Province, the local floods are still unpredictable. From November 18 to the early morning of November 25, this locality has had heavy rain, very heavy rain.

Total rainfall for the entire period is generally 100-400mm, especially in mountainous areas of A Luoi, Nam Dong, Phong Dien districts and Huong Tra town (Thua Thien Hue) 400-850mm, some places are higher such as Huong Phu (Nam Dong district) 1,099mm, Bach Ma 2,577mm, Bach Ma peak (Phu Loc district) over 2,997mm.

Heavy rains caused the water level of major rivers in Thua Thien Hue to rise. At 7:00 a.m. on November 25, the water level of the Huong River at Kim Long station was at 2.99 m, 0.51 m below alert level 3; the Bo River at Phu Oc was at 3.64 m, 0.64 m above alert level 2.

It is forecasted that today, water levels on rivers in Thua Thien Hue will continue to rise, flood peaks on Huong River and Bo River may reach and exceed alert level 3, beware of widespread flooding in downstream areas.

Also on the morning of November 25, the People's Committee of Phu Loc district (Thua Thien Hue province) evacuated 43 households in areas at risk of landslides, including 14 households in Phu Gia area (Loc Tien commune), 7 households in Trung Phuoc Tuong and Trung An villages (Loc Tri commune), 10 households along National Highway 49B (Loc Binh commune) and 12 households in Bach Thach village (Loc Dien commune). In Phong Dien district, the local government coordinated with functional forces to evacuate 8 households with 34 people on the spot.
