Hanoi Many vehicles traveling on Thanh Tri Bridge heading out of the city center had their tires punctured after running over a box cutter blade, causing traffic congestion on the evening of January 5.
The incident occurred during rush hour, so traffic on Thanh Tri Bridge was very difficult, with congestion lasting more than a kilometer at times. A driver said that at 5-6 p.m., the most cars had problems, with nearly 10 cars stopping to repair or change tires on the 3-kilometer-long bridge.
"My car's front right tire had four small pieces of box cutter blades stuck to it," the male driver said, adding that he walked about 50 meters along the bridge and picked up dozens of pieces of box cutter blades.

On the morning of January 6, the Commander of Traffic Police Team No. 14 (Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police) said that yesterday, after receiving the feedback, he sent forces to regulate traffic and coordinate with the bridge maintenance unit to collect the paper cutter blades.
"We determined that the box cutter blade accidentally fell from a cargo vehicle and was not an intentional act," said the commander of Traffic Police Team 14, adding that the flat tire on the bridge was not caused by a "nail thief" as shared on social media.
