After the Ministry of Education and Training sent a document to the People's Committees of provinces and cities regarding the correct implementation of regulations on direct admission and priority admission for grade 10 admission, many localities have adjusted the admission plan for the 2024-2025 school year compared to the previously announced plan.
Lao Cai province announced adjustments to the secondary school graduation plan and high school enrollment plan for the 2024-2025 school year in the area with the following specific contents: No direct admission for students who won first, second, and third prizes in the provincial secondary school excellent student selection exam; No use of foreign language certificates to exempt from exams and convert exam scores for specialized subjects, exempt from exams and calculate maximum scores for non-specialized foreign languages.
Previously, Lao Cai province stipulated that non-specialized candidates would be exempted from the English test and have the maximum score if they had one of the following certificates: IELTS 4.0, TOEFL 45 points. Students applying to specialized schools would be exempted from the English test and have the maximum score if they had IELTS (from 5.5 or higher), TOEFL (from 65 or higher).
Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee also issued a decision to adjust the enrollment plan for grade 10 in the 2024-2025 school year.
Accordingly, candidates applying for grade 10 at Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted will no longer be exempted from the English exam, or be given the maximum score (10 points) for admission when they have one of the English certificates equivalent to level 3 or higher according to the six-level foreign language proficiency framework used in Vietnam.
Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee has abolished the direct admission to high schools in the province for 9th grade students who won first, second, and third prizes in the provincial-level secondary school excellent student selection exam in the 2023-2024 school year.
Binh Duong also removed the policy of adding bonus points if students have a level 3 English proficiency certificate and removed the exemption from taking the English exam if they have a level 4 English proficiency certificate or equivalent or higher.
According to information from the Department of Education and Training of Tuyen Quang , the unit has reviewed and proposed to amend a number of articles of the enrollment plan for junior high school, high school and continuing education for the 2024-2025 school year in the area.
Accordingly, amend point 3.5.1, item 3.5, clause 3, article 1 of Decision No. 30/QD-UBND dated January 29, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee on direct admission. Direct admission to high schools in the province is carried out in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry, not using the results of the provincial-level 9th grade excellent student selection exam and foreign language certificates.
At the same time, abolish point 3.5.3, item 3.5, clause 3, article 1 of Decision No. 30/QD-UBND dated January 29, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee regulating incentive points, completely abolish the incentive point bonus regime in admission to high schools in the province, do not use the results of the provincial-level 9th grade excellent student selection exam and foreign language certificates.
The People's Committee of Quang Tri province also issued a decision approving the enrollment plan for the first grades of the 2024-2025 school year, replacing the previously issued decision.
According to the newly issued plan, for admission to grade 10 public high schools, the regulation on direct admission for students who won an encouragement prize or higher in the provincial cultural competition for grade 9 students of Quang Tri province is abolished.
The regulation on exemption from English exams for those with IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, Aptis ESOL, PEARSON PTE certificates… has also been abolished.
