Three specialized schools under the university, including the Foreign Languages, Natural Sciences, and Hanoi Pedagogical University, have finalized their admission plans for 10th grade with several noteworthy new points.

Foreign Language majors increase the number of exam subjects.

According to the plan, candidates applying to the Specialized High School for Foreign Languages (University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University , Hanoi ) this year will complete four subjects: Literature, Mathematics, English, and a specialized foreign language (candidates will take the exam in English, French, Chinese, German, or Japanese). Except for English, which will be multiple-choice, the remaining subjects will also include an essay section.

In previous years, the Foreign Language Specialized High School admitted 10th-grade students through three exams: Foreign Language, Mathematics and Natural Sciences , and Literature and Social Sciences. This year, the school has increased the number of exams but reduced the number of subjects tested (Natural Sciences and Social Sciences).

The school selects students based on the principle of taking the total scores from highest to lowest until all quotas are filled, in the order of scholarship-winning specialized programs, and then specialized programs. The admission score is the sum of the scores of all subjects on a 10-point scale, with the specialized subject weighted at 2, and rounded to two decimal places.

Candidates will be admitted directly if they win international awards; or provincial-level awards in competitions organized at the national level by the Ministry of Education and Training . In addition, junior high school students who win first prize in foreign languages in the provincial/city-level excellent student selection exams organized by the Department of Education and Training will receive 1.5 points added to their total admission score.

The school accepts online applications from May 5th to 11th. The exam fee is 600,000 VND, payable once with the application and is non-refundable. Results will be announced before July 15th.

Natural Sciences majors have dropped direct admission.

This year, the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences (Faculty of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) will only apply one entrance examination method, and will no longer consider direct admission for students who won first prize in the provincial-level excellent student competition as in previous years.

When registering for a specialized class, candidates take the corresponding specialized subject exam, except for Computer Science, which can choose to take the entrance exam in either Mathematics or Computer Science. To be considered for admission, candidates must achieve a score of 4 or higher in each subject, calculated on a 10-point scale. The admission score is the sum of the Mathematics score (round 1) and the specialized subject score multiplied by a factor of two. Literature and English are conditional subjects and are not included in the admission score.

The entrance exam for 10th grade at the High School for Gifted Students specializing in Natural Sciences will take place from June 1-2. Candidates can register for a maximum of two specialized programs, provided they do not conflict with each other's schedules.

Candidates can register online from April 21st to May 5th. The fee is 600,000 VND per application, or 800,000 VND if registering for two classes.

The exam results will be announced before June 24th. Successful candidates are expected to enroll in person on July 10th.

The University of Education changes its admission scoring method.

Hanoi University of Education's High School for Gifted Students is recruiting a total of 420 students for the 2025-2026 academic year. Specifically, the specialized classes in Mathematics, Chemistry, Literature, and English will each admit 70 students; while the specialized classes in Informatics, Physics, Biology, and Geography will each admit 35 students. The top 10 students in each class will receive scholarships.

Candidates must take four exams: Mathematics, Literature, English, and a specialized subject. Candidates must take the exam for the specialized class they are applying for, except for Informatics, which may be equivalent to Mathematics. To be eligible for admission, candidates must complete all four exams, with no subject scoring below 3.5/10.

This year, the school has three admission score calculation formulas, corresponding to three specialized groups.

For the specialized groups in Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Geography, the admission score is the sum of the general Mathematics score plus the specialized subject score multiplied by a factor of two. The general Literature and English scores are only prerequisites and are not included in the admission score.

For the Literature-specialized class group, the admission score is the sum of the general Literature score and the specialized Literature score multiplied by a factor of two.

For the English-specialized class group, the admission score is the sum of the general English score and the specialized English score multiplied by a factor of two.

In previous years, the Teacher Training High School did not hold an English exam; the admission score was the sum of three subjects, with the specialized subject weighted twice.

The school started releasing application forms on March 20th and accepted registrations from April 7th to May 5th. The exam fee is 650,000 VND per application. The expected cut-off scores for 10th grade will be announced before June 30th.
