Three specialized schools under the university, including Foreign Languages, Natural Sciences, and Hanoi University of Education, have a variety of methods for recruiting students into grade 10 with many new points.
Foreign Language major increases number of exam subjects
According to the plan, candidates taking the entrance exam to the Foreign Language Specialized High School (University of Foreign Languages, Hanoi National University) this year will complete 4 subjects: Literature, Mathematics, English, and Specialized Foreign Language (candidates will take the exam in English, French, Chinese, German, and Japanese). Except for English, which is a multiple-choice test, the remaining subjects will have an essay section.
In previous years, the Foreign Language High School recruited 10th graders with three exams, including Foreign Language, Math and Natural Science, Literature and Social Science. Thus, this year, the school increased the number of exams, but reduced the number of subjects (Natural Science and Social Science).

The school considers admission based on the principle of taking the total score from high to low until the quota is filled, respectively from the specialized system with scholarships and the specialized system. The admission score is the total score of the exam subjects on a 10-point scale, the specialized subject has a coefficient of 2 and is rounded to two decimal places.
Candidates will be considered for direct admission if they win international prizes; or provincial prizes in competitions held on a national scale, organized by the Ministry of Education and Training. In addition, secondary school students who win first prize in foreign languages in the provincial/municipal excellent student selection competition organized by the Department of Education and Training will have 1.5 points added to the total admission score.
The school accepts online registrations from May 5-11. The exam fee is 600,000 VND, paid once with the registration form and is non-refundable. Results will be announced before July 15.
Natural Science major stops direct recruitment
This year, the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences (University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) only applies one admission method, no longer directly admitting candidates who won first prize in provincial-level excellent student competitions like previous years.
When registering for a specialized class, candidates must take the corresponding specialized subject exam, except for IT majors who can choose to take the entrance exam in Math or IT. To be considered for admission, candidates must achieve 4 points or higher in each subject, calculated on a 10-point scale. The admission score is the total score of Math (round 1) and the specialized subject multiplied by a factor of two. Literature and English are conditional subjects and are not included in the admission score.
The 10th grade exam schedule for the Natural Science High School takes place from June 1-2. Candidates can register for up to two majors, as long as they do not overlap.

Regarding the quota, the High School for Natural Sciences recruits 525 students (each specialized class of Math, Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology accepts 105 students). Candidates register for the online exam from April 21 to May 5. The fee is 600,000 VND per wish, 800,000 VND if registering for two classes.
Exam results will be announced before June 24. Successful candidates are expected to enroll directly on July 10.
Pedagogical University changes the way of calculating admission scores
Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted recruits a total of 420 students for the 2025-2026 school year. Of which, specialized classes in Math, Chemistry, Literature and English recruit 70 students/class; Informatics, Physics, Biology and Geography recruit 35 students/class. The 10 students with the highest scores in each class will be awarded scholarships.
Candidates must take four exams, including Math, Literature, English and a specialized subject. Candidates must take the exam for the specialized subject they register for, except for Computer Science, which can be taken with Math. To be eligible for admission, candidates must take all four exams, with no subject below 3.5/10 points.

This year, the school has three formulas for calculating admission scores, corresponding to three specialized groups.
For the specialized exam groups of Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geography, the admission score is the sum of the general Math subject plus the specialized subject multiplied by a coefficient of two. The general Literature and English scores are only conditions and are not counted in the admission score.
For the Literature specialized class, the score is the sum of the general Literature subject and the specialized Literature subject multiplied by a coefficient of two.
For English specialized classes, the score is the sum of general English and specialized English multiplied by a coefficient of two.
In previous years, the Specialized Pedagogical School did not organize an English exam. The score was the sum of three subjects, in which the specialized subject had a coefficient of two.
The school will release application documents from March 20 and accept registrations from April 7 to May 5. The exam fee is 650,000 VND per application. The expected grade 10 benchmark scores will be announced before June 30.
