As a coastal locality, every year, the Women's Union of Van Phuoc commune develops a plan and implements the program "Accompanying women in the border areas". Once a year, the union coordinates with Dam Mon Border Guard Station to organize propaganda about Vietnam's Law of the Sea and Vietnam's sovereignty over seas and islands for about 70 members. At the same time, it coordinates with units to propagate to fishermen in Tan Phuoc Dong village regulations on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. To create a fund to support women and children in difficult circumstances in coastal areas, the union implements the model "200 VND House" to collect plastic waste and scrap to sell for money and mobilize funds from cadres, members, women and benefactors. Each year, the union earns from 6 to 10 million VND from these activities to provide livelihoods to women with disabilities and those in difficult circumstances; and to give scholarships to children who overcome difficulties to study well. The means of livelihood are given in accordance with the circumstances of each member such as: Giving breeding animals, tables and chairs, embroidery frames; supporting capital to buy raw materials, sewing machines, overlock machines... Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc (Tan Phuoc Nam village, Van Phuoc commune) is disabled due to the after-effects of polio when she was young. Her husband died in 2017 due to a serious illness; her daughter married far away; she worked as a seamstress to earn money to support herself. In 2024, the sewing machine was old and could no longer be used. The association supported her with 3 million VND to have more money to buy a new sewing machine; introduced her to receive an overlock machine worth 10 million VND from the Association for the Protection of the Disabled, Poor Patients and Children's Rights of the province. Thanks to that, she has the conditions to continue working to earn a living. In addition, Ms. Ngoc was also given a "Great Solidarity" house by the Provincial Border Guard Command. Now, Ms. Ngoc's family has escaped near-poverty, and is confident in doing business and developing the economy.

The Women's Union of Dai Lanh commune has implemented the "Recycled House" model, raised piggy banks to save money and mobilized donors to have funds to support women in difficult circumstances in coastal areas. In addition to giving means of livelihood and gifts, the association maintains health insurance (HI) for women in difficult circumstances. In 2024, the association donated 10 HI cards with a total amount of nearly 13 million VND. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Le - President of the Women's Union of Dai Lanh commune, most of the women who are given HI are 50 years old or older, have many illnesses, and are in difficult circumstances. Therefore, the association focuses on creating a fund to maintain HI, helping members have conditions for medical examination and treatment.
Every year, the Women's Union of Van Gia town organizes the launch of the program "Accompanying women in the border areas". At the launch ceremony, the union mobilizes cadres, members and benefactors to contribute funds to support women in coastal areas. Depending on the fund source, the union will give savings books, means of livelihood to help women have conditions to do business and scholarships for students in difficult circumstances. Each year, the union mobilizes from 3 to 12 million VND to implement the program. In addition to giving crab nets and food trading tools, the union also gives life jackets to families working in fishing. In 2024, the union presented 12 savings books (1 million VND/book) to poor, near-poor, disabled women, and women in difficult circumstances in coastal areas. Ms. Nguyen Hong Khanh Quynh - President of the Women's Union of Van Ninh district said that, implementing the program "Accompanying women in the border areas", in 2024, the unions at all levels mobilized nearly 104 million VND to award means of livelihood, savings books, health insurance cards, gifts, national flags to women in difficult circumstances in coastal areas and scholarships for students who have overcome difficulties to study well; organized 11 propaganda classes on seas, islands, and Vietnam's Law of the Sea for 595 women. Thereby, contributing to sharing difficulties with women in coastal and island areas, helping women have conditions to do business, develop the economy and grasp the situation of our country's seas and islands. In the coming time, the women's unions at all levels in the district will continue to mobilize resources to effectively implement the program.
