Consider special priorities in admissions

Accordingly, the registration for primary school admission is carried out online at https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn through the student identification code and in compliance with the instructions of the Department of Education and Training. The information used in admission is guaranteed to be 100% extracted from the city's education database system. For units that need to connect data in other forms, it is necessary to ensure full compliance with the requirements on confidentiality and information security for both data transmission and reception.

Admission objects are divided into 2 types, including:

Subject 1 : Priority admission for the following cases:

  • For Grade 1: Students whose "current residence" is within the locality and within the prescribed age
  • For grade 6: Students whose "current residence" is in the area, have completed primary school and are within the prescribed age.

Subject 2 : Students who wish to study in an area that is not their actual residence. The Steering Committee for Primary Admissions of Thu Duc City and districts need to issue documents clearly defining the subjects that are given priority for admission, creating a legal basis for classification. In particular, priority for admission can be considered in order of specific cases of each area such as:

  • Students have completed preschool or primary school in the area.
  • Students whose father or mother works in the area (industrial parks, agencies, organizations located in the area).
  • Students whose "current residence" according to VNEID is in the border areas between districts and Thu Duc City.
  • Students transfer provinces.
  • Students with special local circumstances.

According to the Department's leaders, this priority goal is to facilitate parents in picking up and dropping off their children and supplement the source of students for localities with low numbers of children of enrollment age due to regional characteristics.

The City People's Committee also requires that priority regulations must be clearly and specifically stated in each locality's enrollment plan, ensuring transparency and publicity. Cases that are not in the priority category will be considered last, based on the remaining quotas of the schools and the decision of the local primary enrollment steering committee.

Students in category 2 must ensure the following conditions: Register for admission on the city's admission system, meet the criteria in the local admission plan. The local primary admission steering committee can consider admission in order of subjects and priority regimes, ensuring compliance with the local admission plan and time frame issued by the Department of Education and Training.

The primary enrollment steering committee carries out the work of approving enrollment plans and allocating students locally, in which it must comply with the regulations in the city's enrollment plan and the guidance documents of the Department of Education and Training on the enrollment process, registration time, enrollment methods and other relevant regulations.

Admission results are announced online on the city's admissions page. Application submission is done online and according to the instructions of the Department of Education and Training.

Student information on the education sector database system (including "current residence" and other information affecting local admissions) if updated after the data review period must fully comply with the instructions of the Department of Education and Training and must be completed before May 1, 2025; absolutely do not adjust information after the prescribed deadline.

6th grade admissions at "hot" schools

The method of admission to grade 6 is carried out in the form of examination, in which the examination criteria are established as follows:

Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School and some local secondary schools can conduct admission based on a combination of two criteria including training and learning results in primary school years and the results of capacity assessment surveys. In particular, local secondary schools must simultaneously meet two requirements: Having a number of candidates registering exceeding the enrollment quota in recent years and being proposed by the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, districts and counties to the Department of Education and Training.

The remaining secondary schools conduct admission based on the results of training and learning at the primary level and use data from digital maps to serve the allocation of students, in which the admission areas of the schools are decided by the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, districts and counties according to the actual situation in the locality.

Depending on the actual situation of school facilities, teaching staff and population of each locality, based on the advice of the Department of Education and Training, the primary enrollment steering committee determines the enrollment quota for grade 6 for schools.

Admission to grades 1 and 6 of Nam Sai Gon Primary, Secondary and High School is carried out according to the school's plan, ensuring registration on the city's primary admissions page (address: https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn), complying with the correct time frame and regulations in the guidance documents of the Department of Education and Training, ensuring synchronization with the city's admissions work.

Grade 10 admission in 2 phases

Conducting 10th grade admission exams at Thanh An Secondary and High School, Can Gio district (only for students who graduated from secondary school at this school in the 2024 - 2025 school year).

Conduct entrance exams for candidates who graduated from junior high school in Ho Chi Minh City and wish to enroll in high schools in the city.

The selection process is carried out in 2 stages:

  • Phase 1: Students register for 3 priority wishes 1, 2, 3 to take the entrance exam to grade 10 of public high schools.
  • Phase 2: Depending on the actual application situation at high schools and the needs of high schools, the Department of Education and Training will decide on additional enrollment and issue written instructions to ensure the rights of candidates, on the basis of recruiting enough enrollment quotas for schools that are still lacking many quotas.

The Department of Education and Training notes: Students should choose to register their wishes near their current place of residence to avoid being admitted but not submitting their application.

Students are not allowed to change their preferences after the deadline for adjusting preferences has expired.

The 10th grade entrance exam will take place over 2 days, June 6-7, with 3 subjects in essay format including math, literature (120 minutes/subject), foreign language - foreign language 1 currently studying at school (90 minutes) for candidates registering for regular wishes and specialized/integrated subjects for candidates registering for specialized schools and integrated classes.

Based on the initial enrollment plan of the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City and districts will develop enrollment plans for preschool, grade 1, and grade 6 in the locality.
