On the morning of October 11, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, the representative of the leadership of Albert Einstein Primary, Secondary and High School (Ha Tinh city, Ha Tinh province) confirmed the stirring images of lunch for primary school children posted, shared and compared by some Facebook accounts to "diet meals" occurring at this educational institution.
A parent whose child attends Albert Einstein Elementary School posted her child’s school lunch. The photo shows the lunch consisting of white rice, 2 pieces of stuffed tofu, soup, 2 pieces of boiled corn and 1 banana.
A meal for primary school children at Albert Einstein School was taken by a parent and posted online (Photo: Facebook).
However, the school representative said that each child's three meals a day cost 48,000 VND. On the day of the incident, October 9, in the morning, the children had chicken pho, pineapple sticky rice with braised pork; in the afternoon, there was milk and cake; and at noon, there were dishes as shown in the picture.
The dishes change daily, for example, the day after October 10, in the morning the children get to eat pasta with meat, grilled vermicelli with grilled pork; at noon there is chicken soup, steamed vegetables with peanut salt, pumpkin soup with chicken, sticky rice, grapefruit; in the afternoon there is fresh milk.
The school has a unit to measure the quantity and quality of food for the children. However, for lunch on October 9, through a survey of children and parents, the children did not like to eat meatballs and tofu sauce separately, so the school combined them into one dish of stuffed tofu.
The menu for elementary school at Albert Einstein School on October 7-11 was made public to parents (Photo: Provided by the school).
"Regarding food supplies and menus, the school makes them public to each class group and parents can wear badges in the kitchen to monitor," said a school representative.
Also according to the school's leadership representative, on the morning of October 9, a male parent with a child in grade 4 entered the school with a badge and went to the kitchen area. At that time, the kitchen was preparing a meal, the male parent said "in a hurry" and asked to have the meal served on a tray.
The kitchen staff did as requested and before they could even wipe the tray clean, the male parent used his phone with a poor quality camera to take a picture.
That same day, the father's wife posted a photo of the "unattractive" meal on social media, causing mixed opinions.
After the incident, the school worked with the accounting team, food supervisors and chefs to check the information. From there, the school determined that the food portions were true, but the menu was made according to what was previously disclosed to parents.
"The school affirms that there is no irregularity in the embezzlement of food rations or any errors in food hygiene and safety," the school representative explained.
In addition, the school determined that the incident was regrettable and has worked with relevant departments. The school has also provided all relevant information that parents are interested in, and has decided to change the food portion size from October 14.

After that, the school will send the menu one month in advance for parents to choose and agree. In case parents do not feel confident, the school will choose a third party to provide food.
"Most other parents think this is just an incident and the school did nothing wrong. The parents and organizations that commented on the meal photos for comparison do not have children studying at the school. But we all accept this because this comparison is good for the school to learn from experience," the school representative shared.
After this incident, Ha Tinh provincial police and food monitoring units stepped in to investigate, and the school cooperated. The parent who posted the complaint deleted the photos and posts on his personal account.
