Vietnamese athletics did not really succeed at the 2023 Asian Athletics Championship held in Thailand. But on the final day of competition on July 16, we got the expected Gold medal thanks to the 4x400m relay team.
The final of the 4x400m relay event took place at 6:20 p.m., the quartet Nguyen Thi Huyen, Nguyen Thi Hang, Nguyen Thi Ngoc, Hoang Thi Minh Hanh won the Gold medal with an impressive achievement of 3 minutes 33 seconds 05.
Initially, Nguyen Thi Ngoc was only in 4th place despite a strong start from her opponents. But then, Hoang Thi Minh Hanh broke away to 3rd place, creating the premise for Nguyen Thi Huyen to rise to 2nd place, then approach 1st place and surpass. Finally, Nguyen Thi Hang completed an impressive comeback, helping Vietnam win its first Gold medal.
The Vietnamese women's 4x400m relay team maintained their impressive form, following up the SEA Games 32 gold medal with the continental gold medal. This is an extremely meaningful medal for Vietnamese athletics, creating great motivation for entering the upcoming ASIAD in Hangzhou.
