According to the General Statistics Office - Ministry of Planning and Investment, the average consumer price index in the first 7 months of the year increased by 4.12% compared to the same period in 2023. In particular, domestic gasoline prices increased following world prices, increased demand for electricity and health insurance premiums adjusted according to the new basic salary were the main reasons for the CPI increase in July.
Compared to the previous month, CPI in July increased by 0.48% (urban areas increased by 0.43%, rural areas increased by 0.52%). Of the 11 main consumer goods and services groups, 10 groups increased in price; only the post and telecommunications group had unchanged prices compared to the previous month.
Notably, in July, the CPI of the transport group increased by 1.45%. Health insurance prices increased by 28.45% when the basic salary was adjusted from VND 1.8 million/month to VND 2.34 million/month. The price of elderly care services increased by 2.5% compared to the previous month.
Also according to the General Statistics Office, compared to December 2023, the CPI in July increased by 1.89%. Of which, 9 groups of goods increased in price and 2 groups of goods decreased in price. The average CPI in the first 7 months of the year increased by 4.12% compared to the same period in 2023.
