On July 2, Can Tho General Hospital said that after emergency surgery to remove a foreign object suspected to be a bullet fragment, patient NHT (37 years old, in Cau Ke district, Tra Vinh) is now stable, with blood pressure and pulse returning to normal.
Previously, on the afternoon of July 1, according to his family, while working in the garden, Mr. T. accidentally hit a hard object suspected to be a bullet with his hoe. The bullet exploded, causing shrapnel to hit his face, nose, and a piece to stick in his neck. The victim was bleeding profusely and could not stop, so he was stunned.
Immediately afterwards, the family took him to the local medical station for first aid and pressure bandage to stop the bleeding and transferred him to the emergency room at Can Tho General Hospital.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the victim's blood pressure dropped and hemorrhagic shock set in. The on-duty team temporarily stopped the bleeding, administered IV fluids, pain relief, and performed blood tests and X-rays to surgically remove the bullet fragments.
