Hanoi records a continuous increase in measles cases, especially in the over 6 age group.

On April 13, the Hanoi Department of Health reported that during the week (from April 4 to April 11), the city recorded 212 measles cases in 30 districts, towns and cities (an increase of 9 cases compared to the previous week).

From the beginning of 2025 to now, Hanoi city has recorded 1,665 cases of measles in 30/30 districts, towns and cities; while there were no cases in the same period in 2024. Patients are distributed by age group, of which 12% are under 6 months old; 15% are from 6-8 months; 10% are from 9-11 months; 22% are from 1-5 years old; 14% are from 6-10 years old; 27% are over 10 years old.

The Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC Hanoi) stated that the number of measles cases has not shown a downward trend, mainly in people who have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated. It is forecasted that the number of cases will continue to increase and tend to increase in the group over 6 years old.

Hanoi CDC recommends that medical centers in districts, towns and cities continue to review and organize measles vaccination for children who are subject to the campaign, focusing on children aged 6 to under 9 months and children aged 1-10 who have not received 2 doses of measles vaccine.

At the same time, monitor and detect hand, foot and mouth disease in the community and kindergartens with cases and outbreaks; organize thorough treatment activities, general environmental sanitation, disinfection to prevent and control hand, foot and mouth disease according to regulations.

In addition, strengthen coordination between the health sector and the education sector in monitoring, preventing and handling cases and outbreaks of measles, hand, foot and mouth disease... in schools; coordinate the implementation of vaccination in schools; and disseminate disease prevention measures to parents.

Next week, Hanoi CDC will coordinate with districts to continue checking the management of data, statistics and reports of patients and dengue fever outbreaks in the following districts: Hoan Kiem, Quoc Oai, Nam Tu Liem, Phu Xuyen, Phuc Tho, Dong Da, Hoang Mai, Soc Son, Tay Ho, and Thach That.
