GĐXH - Doctors said the patient was admitted to the hospital conscious but in shock due to pain, his right hand was still stuck in the meat grinder.
On March 20, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital said that doctors at this unit had just received a case of a work accident that nearly cost the patient his arm due to being stuck in a meat grinder.
Accordingly, a 36-year-old female patient in Hanoi was taken to the emergency room with her hand stuck in a meat grinder. It is known that while working, the patient accidentally got her hand stuck in the meat grinder, leading to serious injuries to the second and third fingers of her right hand.

At the hospital, Dr. Nguyen Manh Tien, Department of Lower Limb Surgery, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital said: The patient was admitted in a conscious state but in shock due to pain, his right hand was still in the meat grinder. Faced with the emergency situation, doctors quickly examined, assessed the extent of the injury and urgently took the patient into emergency surgery.
Thanks to timely coordination between specialists, the surgery was successful, helping to preserve maximum hand function for the patient.
From this case, experts recommend that to prevent unfortunate accidents when using household appliances such as meat grinders, people should note:
- When a work accident occurs, stay calm, perform first aid properly and quickly take the victim to the nearest medical facility.
- Absolutely do not arbitrarily remove foreign objects, apply leaves or herbal medicine to the wound to avoid the risk of shock due to pain, blood loss, infection, making the treatment process difficult.
