According to the New Arab website, the discussion between the two countries will focus on the situation in the Red Sea and Yemen, especially in the context of the Houthi attacks that have greatly affected maritime traffic through the Suez Canal. The two sides will also discuss the escalating situation in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, as well as measures to reduce regional tensions due to increased military actions by Israel.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced on October 16 that 16 people were killed and 52 others were injured in an Israeli airstrike on the government headquarters of Nabatieh city - the capital of the province of the same name in southern Lebanon. Among those killed was Mayor Ahmad Kahil. This is the largest attack on the Lebanese government headquarters since Israel began its air campaign.

New Arab reported that Mr. Araghchi will convey a message from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Egyptian officials about concrete steps to reduce regional tensions, while emphasizing the role of bilateral cooperation in this challenging time.

According to Iran's ISNA news agency, Foreign Minister Araghchi is also expected to meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during the visit.

After Egypt, the Iranian diplomat is expected to continue his visit to Türkiye. Over the past week, Mr. Araghchi has also made a series of diplomatic visits to many countries including Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq and Oman, in order to seek solutions to cool down the Middle East region.
