Nghe An aims to build a specialized agricultural area applying digital technology

On the afternoon of May 14, in Hanoi, the National Committee on Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held a symposium on "Promoting Digitalization of the Agricultural Sector" in the form of direct and online access to the headquarters of the People's Committees of 63 provinces and cities across the country.

The conference was co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang - Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Committee on Digital Transformation; Comrade Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Information and Communications, Comrade Le Minh Hoan - Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. Attending the conference were leaders of central ministries and branches; representatives of leaders of 63 provinces and cities across the country.

Focus on removing digital bottlenecks

Speaking at the conference, comrade Le Minh Hoan - Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development affirmed: Agriculture is always a solid foundation, an economic pillar that plays an indispensable role in ensuring food security and is a source of essential products serving people's lives.

In the context of globalization and the 4th industrial revolution taking place strongly, in recent years, the agricultural sector has proactively implemented digital transformation, especially the application of digital technology such as artificial intelligence, data management, IoT, automation... in the production, processing and consumption of agricultural products. Thereby, helping to increase labor productivity, improve efficiency, ensure food safety and hygiene, protect the environment and enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products.

However, the digitalization process in the agricultural sector from the central to local levels is also facing many barriers and challenges. Therefore, the Government, the National Committee on Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development have clearly recognized the urgency of having comprehensive solutions to remove obstacles, promote the digital transformation process, and apply digitalization more quickly and effectively in the agricultural sector.

At the Conference, delegates and experts assessed the current situation and bottlenecks in digitalization and digital technology application in the agricultural sector, and exchanged and shared experiences, practical models and proposed solutions for digitalizing agriculture, quickly shifting agricultural production thinking to agricultural economic thinking.

Accordingly, there are 6 groups of solutions proposed. Specifically, one is to focus on researching and improving the efficiency of research activities, applying science, technology and innovation suitable for digital transformation and developing the digital economy in the agricultural sector. Focusing on 3 main pillars: agriculture, rural areas and farmers. Second, it is necessary to focus on researching and building big data systems and applying digital technology to help businesses and farmers improve productivity and quality of agricultural products.

Third, develop information technology infrastructure. Fourth, improve the quality of human resources. Fifth, strengthen and improve the quality of support activities to bring products from schools, institutes, and technology enterprises to the market, apply them in practice to help connect supply and demand of the science and technology market, and apply them to develop the digital economy in the agricultural sector. Sixth, the State needs to accompany farmers and support farmers in applying digital technology to production.

In Nghe An, in recent times, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has proactively advised superiors to gradually invest in digital infrastructure applications and develop information technology; gradually build digital data on digital platforms, train digital human resources to ensure information security to promote digitalization in the agricultural sector.

Accordingly, digital infrastructure, digital data, digital platforms, digital human resources, digital government... are gradually being completed and put into operation and application. In particular, developing the digital economy in agriculture, up to now, nearly 300,000 enterprises, cooperatives, craft villages, and agricultural production households in Nghe An have put nearly 9,000 products on e-commerce platforms, ranking 5th in the country in terms of the number of agricultural products put on the platform.

The area of ​​high-tech agricultural production has been expanded, attracting many large enterprises to invest, creating jobs and increasing income; Building models of growing citrus fruit trees using drip irrigation technology; Forming concentrated livestock farms on an industrial scale, applying biosafety livestock farming processes; Many new technologies have been applied in aquaculture; Applying science and technology to state management in investigating and monitoring forest resource developments, preventing forest fires, controlling epidemics, paying for forest environmental services... for more accurate results, saving time and increasing efficiency.

In the coming time, Nghe An will continue to promote the construction and development of e-government of the Agriculture and Rural Development Sector; Build and develop a synchronous database system of the Agriculture and Rural Development Sector; Build and develop e-government of the Agriculture and Rural Development Sector, ensuring that 100% of administrative procedure records are allowed to perform online public services.

Develop projects for specialized areas for conversion of crops and livestock and call for investment in high-tech agriculture and high-tech forestry; production models, connecting smart agriculture, high-tech forestry production, digital technology agricultural production in each field with specialized area scale; high-tech models in livestock breeding; connecting supply and demand of agricultural products on e-commerce platforms.

Complete the construction of software to introduce OCOP products of the province based on input data from production, harvesting, processing, product introduction and consumption, and communication to enhance product value.
