In the context of the global economy facing many challenges from climate change and the need for sustainable development, Ca Mau province has continuously promoted digital transformation and focused on developing green industry.
In particular, the agricultural and aquatic product processing industries - the province's key economic sectors - are gradually applying high technology and digital technology to increase production value, meeting the criteria for sustainable and environmentally friendly economic development.
Digital transformation in agriculture and fisheries
Digital transformation is not only an inevitable trend in the current period but also the key to helping Ca Mau improve its competitiveness and sustainable development.
Currently, the province is strongly implementing digitalization programs, from management, supervision to production and business support in the agricultural and aquatic sectors. Information related to the process of farming, harvesting, processing and distributing products is integrated and managed through digital platforms.
According to statistics from the Department of Information and Communications of Ca Mau, by 2023, more than 80% of seafood processing enterprises in the province will have applied information technology and digital solutions to production and business management. In particular, many enterprises have applied automatic management systems (IoT) to control the water environment in shrimp farming areas, helping to improve farming efficiency and minimize negative impacts on the environment.

At the same time, the agricultural industry is also applying smart systems in the production process, such as using drones to monitor crops, detect plant diseases early, and using supply chain management software to optimize the process from production to consumption.
Along with the development of the processing industry, Ca Mau also aims to build a green industry focusing on minimizing negative impacts on the environment. The application of high-tech solutions helps the province not only develop the economy but also protect natural resources and the environment.
Ca Mau’s seafood processing and agricultural industries have made significant progress in reducing emissions and industrial waste. Specifically, seafood processing plants now apply advanced wastewater treatment technologies, ensuring that treated wastewater meets environmental standards before being discharged into nature.
Measures to recycle waste during the production process are also strongly implemented, such as using sludge from wastewater treatment systems to make organic fertilizer or biofuel.
A typical example is Ca Mau Seafood Processing Joint Stock Company, one of the leading enterprises in the seafood industry of the province. The company has invested in a wastewater treatment system with a capacity of more than 10,000 m³/day, ensuring that the treated wastewater meets the A standard according to the regulations of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
At the same time, the company also deploys solutions to recycle by-products from shrimp processing to produce animal feed and other value-added products.
High-tech agricultural and aquatic product processing
Ca Mau is one of the localities with the largest potential for agricultural and aquaculture development in the country, with more than 280,000 hectares of aquaculture and more than 140,000 hectares of agricultural land. However, to increase the value of products, the province has been promoting the application of high technology in the processing process, thereby improving product quality and expanding export markets.
The seafood processing industry, especially shrimp, the main product of Ca Mau, has invested heavily in modern processing technology.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ca Mau, by 2023, more than 70% of the province's shrimp products will be processed according to international standards such as ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) and GlobalGAP (Good Agricultural Practices), ensuring product quality meets the requirements of demanding markets such as the EU, US and Japan.

In addition, Ca Mau also focuses on developing value-added shrimp products, such as deep-processed black tiger shrimp, dried shrimp, and pre-marinated frozen shrimp. These products not only increase export value but also help reduce waste during processing, while creating more jobs for local workers.
In the agricultural sector, the application of high technology is also being widely deployed, with smart farming models such as hydroponic vegetable cultivation, using drip irrigation technology, and applying automatic machinery in harvesting and processing.
In particular, organic agricultural farms have been formed and strongly developed, with a closed production process from farming to processing, ensuring products meet food safety standards and are environmentally friendly.
Many policies to support and attract investment
In order to encourage businesses to invest in developing green and high-tech industries in agriculture and aquaculture, Ca Mau province has issued many attractive support policies. According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, from 2020 to now, Ca Mau has attracted more than 50 investment projects in the agricultural and aquatic product processing industries with a total investment capital of over 15,000 billion VND.
Of these, investment projects in seafood processing technology account for a large proportion, with modern processing plants built and upgraded to international standards. The provincial government has also implemented many programs to encourage businesses to apply high-tech solutions in production, including supporting loan interest rates and reducing taxes for projects with high-tech and environmentally friendly elements.

At the same time, to ensure sustainable development and harmony between economy and environment, Ca Mau also promotes the protection and development of forests, especially mangrove forests - the green lungs of the province. Currently, Ca Mau's mangrove forest area accounts for more than 90,000 hectares, playing an important role in maintaining the ecosystem and protecting the coast from the impacts of climate change.
Digital transformation and green industry development in the agriculture and aquaculture sectors are the right and necessary directions for Ca Mau province. By applying high technology and sustainable solutions, Ca Mau not only increases product value but also protects the environment, ensuring harmonious development between economy and nature.
Investment support policies and administrative reforms have created favorable conditions for domestic and foreign enterprises to invest, contributing to changing the face of rural areas and promoting sustainable economic development in Ca Mau province.
