The groundbreaking ceremony is expected to be held at the ministerial level, with the participation of representatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction, the Chinese Ministry of Transport; leaders of Lao Cai (Vietnam) and Yunnan (China) provinces, and representatives of relevant departments and branches.

Along with careful preparation for the groundbreaking ceremony, the investor and contractor have mobilized human resources, gathered vehicles, and are ready to start the main items right after the groundbreaking ceremony.
On March 28, we were present at the area preparing for the groundbreaking ceremony. The event organizer was rushing to set up the tent, decorate the ceremony, and ensure the ceremony took place solemnly.

The bridge pier under construction is only a few dozen steps away from the ceremony site. The contractor has gathered more than 20 vehicles, including large cranes, pile drilling machines, excavators, and various types of cars. Around the construction site, some workers are fencing off the construction site with corrugated iron to ensure the safety of the construction site. The workers' living quarters near the construction site are also being urgently deployed.
On the other side of the Red River, it can also be clearly seen that construction units from neighboring countries are preparing for the groundbreaking ceremony, arranging vehicles and machinery ready for construction.

Mr. Tran Hung Lam, Director of the Project Management Board (Trung Chinh Trading and Construction Company Limited) said: Immediately after having the drawings and the decision to start the project, the unit mobilized machinery, equipment, vehicles and a team of engineers and skilled workers to the construction site. This is an important project, the construction progress has been discussed many times by both sides to set the time frames for completing each item. Therefore, the preparation must be really thoughtful and thorough.
According to Mr. Lam, the unit has constructed many key national bridge projects, but this is the first time it has undertaken a special project, a border bridge project. Therefore, the team of engineers and workers all feel confident and honored to be present here.

Compared to previous bridge projects that the unit has constructed, the cross-border bridge project is designed to be more than 35 m wide. This is quite a large width compared to the average of bridges across the country. Therefore, the construction process requires meticulous calculation, using highly flexible machines and equipment. The unit strives to complete bored piles and foundation construction after 2 months of construction before entering the rainy season. "Immediately after the start of construction, we will synchronously construct the items, bridge piers and abutments, and access roads. Depending on the volume and requirements of the work, the unit will continue to mobilize human resources and means to ensure the progress, quality and aesthetics of the project" - Mr. Lam shared.

Mr. Pham Minh Hai, Deputy Director of Lao Cai Provincial Traffic Project Management Board, said: Currently, the Board is coordinating with relevant units to urgently complete the preparations for the groundbreaking ceremony to take place according to the plan of the Provincial People's Committee. Along with that, to speed up the construction progress immediately after the project starts, the Board will coordinate with the Chinese side to urge the contractor to synchronously deploy the items, striving to complete the project after 18 months. For the connecting routes that are being deployed in parallel, when the bridge is completed, they will be connected continuously, ensuring synchronous operation.
Before the news of the border bridge project being built, Mr. Tran Dang Dat, a resident of Ban Vuoc commune (Bat Xat) hopes that in the near future this area will be really bustling with import and export activities, and at the same time, there will be more businesses and factories coming to invest, thereby creating more jobs for local people.
The road bridge across the Red River in the border area of Bat Xat (Vietnam) - Ba Sai (China) was built at the Ban Vuoc border gate area, Bat Xat district, about 700m downstream of the Red River from landmark 97(2).

The project was approved for investment by Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee in Decision 1743/QD-UBND dated May 26, 2021 with the scale: Main bridge over the Red River in the form of Extradosed (low tower cable-stayed bridge) with span diagram: (China) 60 m + 110 m + 60 m (Vietnam); prestressed reinforced concrete beams constructed by the cantilever method combined with fan-shaped cable-stayed, tower pillars are 20 m high from the bridge deck. The bridge is 35.3 m wide (including the width of the tower pillars). Of which, the Vietnamese side invested in building 1/2 of the main bridge (115 m). The bridge and approach road on the Vietnamese side are 40 m long, made of prestressed reinforced concrete box girders cast on fixed scaffolding. The road at the bridgehead is 232.5 m long, the roadbed is 35 m wide, the road surface is 25 m wide, the road surface structure is asphalt concrete. Total project construction cost is about 282 billion VND.
The project to build a road bridge across the Red River creates the basis for forming a cross-border economic cooperation zone, promoting trade, supporting border trade and tourism between Vietnam and China; connecting the Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway (Vietnam) with the Kunming - Hekou highway (China) to meet transportation requirements and serve economic development between the two provinces of Lao Cai - Yunnan as well as the provinces in the Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong economic corridor and of both Vietnam and China.
