Launching the agricultural data management system of Hai Phong city

HAI PHONG The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Phong has just held a conference to review the digital transformation of the agriculture and rural development sector and launch the agricultural product data management system.

The conference was attended by leaders of relevant departments, branches, agricultural departments, economic departments of localities and more than 300 delegates representing technology enterprises, agricultural cooperatives, production, business and agricultural processing establishments in Hai Phong city.

Delegates were informed about the results of digital transformation in agriculture and rural areas in Hai Phong city in recent years and digital transformation models in agricultural production. With the solutions pointed out, along with recommendations from businesses, cooperatives, and farmers at the conference, the difficulties and obstacles they are facing have been partly resolved. Thereby, it has made an important contribution to promoting digital transformation in agricultural production and building new rural areas in the coming time.

Also at the conference, representatives of VNPT Hai Phong introduced the first agricultural product data management system deployed in the area. The system was deployed to create favorable opportunities for agricultural producers to promote and introduce agricultural products more quickly to consumers.

Through the data system, units will promptly grasp the market and consumer needs to have appropriate production plans and business strategies. Conversely, consumers can also proactively contact producers and processing facilities to have safe, quality agricultural products with clear origins.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Phong and VNPT Hai Phong also signed a memorandum of understanding on digital transformation in agriculture and rural development. This is an important milestone that opens up new directions, many new solutions and technology models will be jointly implemented by the two sides to bring the best benefits and efficiency to agricultural producers.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuat - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Phong said that thanks to the application of digital transformation, people have more information, knowledge, and supporting technology, so the efficiency in agricultural production is becoming more and more obvious, the value of agricultural production of the City from 2021 to present has grown continuously at an average of 1%/year or more. For models applying digital technology, depending on the model, they all bring added value from 20 to 40%.

“Digital transformation in agriculture and rural areas is an objective necessity, an urgent and long-term task. This is one of the important solutions to promote restructuring of the agricultural sector, build new rural areas, and contribute to the successful implementation of Resolution 13 of the Party Congress and Resolution 16 of the Hai Phong City Party Committee,” said Mr. Tuat.

In addition to the achieved results, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Phong also assessed that digital transformation in agriculture and new rural areas is in the initial stages and that the development of digital economy in agriculture has received attention but the scale is still small. The application of digital technology is not yet synchronous, still fragmented, implemented in individual stages, the rate of products participating in e-commerce platforms and traceability is still low.

Therefore, in the coming time, the units under the Department need to continue to promote digital transformation, digitize business processes, and create databases according to their areas of responsibility. In particular, deploy the construction and replication of priority models applying information technology solutions and digital transformation such as artificial intelligence, using smart devices, automation, etc.

The leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Phong assigned the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Product Quality Management to coordinate with the Agricultural Extension Center and related units to actively create, supplement and share the database of agricultural products on the agricultural product data management system. On the other hand, actively propagate, disseminate, guide, and "hand-hold" farmers, production, business and processing establishments of agricultural products in the whole city and consumers to participate in exploiting and using the agricultural product data management system effectively, achieving the set goals.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Cuong - Deputy Head of the Department of Quality Management of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Products of Hai Phong, currently on the agricultural product data management system of Hai Phong city, there are more than 1,400 records of all kinds. Through the application of information technology, it has helped to systematize, provide timely, complete and accurate information on agricultural information to serve the direction, management and production and business activities; increase the ability to access information of organizations, enterprises, cooperatives and farmers, contributing to increasing competitiveness, increasing added value and developing sustainable agriculture.
