A family in Ta Ngai Cho commune is working day and night to complete their house construction on schedule.
Therefore, not including the houses already started, from now until June 30, 2025, Muong Khuong district must start construction or repair 530 houses each month, averaging 18 houses completed every day, day or night. Every 80 minutes, Muong Khuong district must have a new house started and completed.
A 200W light bulb can provide enough light for 5 to 7 people to work.
To achieve its goals, Muong Khuong district has launched a campaign called "90 days and nights to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025". Responding to this initiative and taking advantage of favorable weather, many households have hired workers to work overtime, extending working hours by using lights in the dark of night to construct their houses. Reporters from Lao Cai Newspaper have captured some such images in the highland commune of Ta Ngai Cho and the lowland commune of Lung Vai.
"Building during the day isn't enough, so we have to take advantage of the nighttime to build." Working together, shining lights. In recent days, the weather has been dry and the cold weather has subsided in the highland communes, creating favorable conditions for construction teams to work overtime and increase productivity. Building a house at night requires good skills and a lot of experience.
The homeowner's encouragement and the fixed construction cost per square meter were the main motivations for the teams of workers to compete by working overtime and longer hours each day. A construction worker in Lung Vai commune takes advantage of the evening hours to work thanks to the support of the national power grid. Building houses in the evening also compensates for the time lost during the hot afternoon sun when they can't work early as usual.
The people of Ta Ngai Cho commune feel happy to be able to work as builders for their own homes.
