The memorandum of understanding was signed by VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan and Brazilian Ambassador to Vietnam Marco Farani - representing CBF. The ceremony was also attended by player Nguyen Xuan Son (Rafaelson) - a Brazilian who has acquired Vietnamese citizenship and contributed greatly to the Southeast Asian championship (ASEAN Cup 2024) of the Vietnamese team, and was also the top scorer of the tournament.

Speaking at a press conference held the same day, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed his congratulations on the achievements of Vietnamese football and appreciated Rafaelson's role as a living symbol of the friendship and good cooperation between the two countries.

The MoU is valid for three years from the date of signing and will be automatically extended for another two years. In the agreement, the two sides agreed to promote cooperation in many areas: from organizing regional and international football conferences and seminars; exchanging experts, coaches, and players; to sharing experiences in management, competition organization, and professional football development.

Notably, the MoU also mentions plans to support the national teams of the two countries in training and international friendly matches, opening up opportunities for youth teams from the U21 level and below to compete. At the same time, the cooperation also includes the exchange of expertise in sports medicine, rehabilitation and operation of football facilities.

This is considered an important step forward in the sports cooperation between Vietnam and Brazil in general, and between the two football teams in particular, with the expectation of creating positive changes, contributing to promoting the sustainable development and professionalization of Vietnamese football.

Previously, on December 18, 2024, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan had a meeting with Brazilian Ambassador Marco Farani at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation. At the meeting, the two sides agreed on the direction of comprehensive cooperation, in which Ambassador Marco Farani affirmed that he would act as a bridge to promote exchange programs, support Vietnamese football in learning and accessing modern training methods and training systems of Brazilian football - one of the leading development cradles of world football.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two federations is a vivid demonstration of the increasingly deep friendship between Vietnam and Brazil, and affirms the determination of Vietnamese football in expanding international cooperation, aiming for higher development standards in the future.
