(NLDO) - The national relic of Xam Bo family - the place to worship famous general Pham Tu Nghi - was solemn and sacred but suddenly "turned" into a circus.

On March 21, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong sent an official dispatch to districts, towns and Thuy Nguyen City requesting to strengthen the management of relics, protect and promote the value of cultural heritage in the area.

Previously, on the evening of March 20, people in Nam Hai ward, Hai An district were quite upset when Xam Bo communal house - a national relic, was "turned" into a circus. The area of ​​about 500 square meters of Xam Bo communal house - the place to worship famous general Pham Tu Nghi - was quiet, solemn and sacred, but was suddenly "turned" by the HL art troupe into a place for human circus - animal circus with ticket prices of 100,000 VND/adult, 50,000 VND/child (children under 10 years old are free). Local people were fed up when Xam Bo communal house was used as a circus performance venue with all kinds of loud sounds, loud music, a place to sell food, toys and many other accompanying services.

According to the investigation of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, on February 25, HL Entertainment Company Limited (Hanoi City) was approved by the Department of Culture and Sports of Hai Phong to organize the art performance program "human circus - animal circus - magic" in Hai An district from March 19 to April 3. After being introduced by Hai An district to Nam Hai ward, HL Entertainment Company Limited chose Xam Bo communal house as the place to set up the theater.

Discovering that Xam Bo communal house was "turned" into a circus, which was not suitable for the worship space of a national relic, on the evening of March 20, the Inspector of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong, the functional forces of the People's Committee of Hai An district worked with the leaders of HL Entertainment Company Limited to request that the performance activities here be stopped and another location be chosen.

Speaking with the Lao Dong Newspaper, the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong said that recently, in the city, a number of circus and magic performances approved by competent state management agencies, received by local authorities and selected as venues within the relic site have caused negative public opinion, and have been assessed by the people as being inappropriate for the worship space of the relic (in terms of actors' costumes, loud music, etc.), not ensuring the solemnity and dignity of the place of worship of ancestors and national heroes.

The outside of Xam Bo communal house is tightly sealed to control people coming in and out.

To strengthen the management of relics, protect and promote the value of cultural heritage in Hai Phong City, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism requests the People's Committees of districts and Thuy Nguyen City to direct the People's Committees of communes, wards, and relic management boards to strengthen the management of relics, protect and promote the value of heritage; Select and organize art performances suitable for the worship space in the relic premises, ensuring solemnity, dignity, and conformity with the traditional culture of the locality.
