'Upgrading from a Branch to a Grassroots Youth Union is an important step forward for the Youth Union of the Central Office of the Vietnam Journalists Association'

Reporting on the summary of the work of the Youth Union and the Youth Movement of the 5th term, the direction and tasks of the 6th term, term 2024 - 2027, comrade Nguyen Ngoc Long, Secretary of the Youth Union of the information agency, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the Central Agency of the Vietnam Journalists Association was upgraded from a Youth Union branch to a grassroots Youth Union directly under the Youth Union of the Central Agencies according to Decision No. 139-QD/DTNK-TCKT dated March 12, 2024.

The agency's Youth Union consists of 3 Youth Union branches with a total of 71 members, including 37 men and 34 women, with an average age of 31 years old; 24 members are party members, operating in 6 branches under the Central Party Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

From 2022 to present, 6 union members have become adult members; at the same time, 17 new union members have been added, who are young officials and civil servants recruited and received from other agencies to work at departments and units of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

"Over the past time, with the regular and timely guidance and leadership of the agency's Party Committee; the direction and attention of the Youth Union of Central Agencies; the active support of departments, units and mass organizations in the agency, and the coordination of other youth organizations, favorable conditions have been created for the agency's Youth Union and its branches to effectively implement activities," said comrade Nguyen Ngoc Long.

Besides the advantages, Secretary of the Youth Union Nguyen Ngoc Long acknowledged that the work of the Youth Union also faces difficulties such as: members focus a lot of time on professional work, work locations are scattered, the number of members and youth has decreased due to the age of participation in activities being over, and activities have not kept up with the increasingly rapid movement and development of members and youth.

According to comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong, in the face of increasingly high demands for professional work, the work of the Youth Union and the youth movement needs to be more closely and effectively linked with the implementation of political tasks of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association - the Association representing the ownership, aspirations and legitimate interests of Vietnamese journalists, contributing to building the Vietnamese press to truly be the voice of the Party, the State and the forum of the People.

Youth union work and youth movements must truly create a favorable environment for young people to actively compete in studying to improve their professional qualifications, and propose many initiatives and creative ideas to contribute to the excellent completion of assigned professional tasks.

"The Central Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association needs to continue implementing solutions to build a strong Union in terms of political ideology, organization and action, worthy of being a reliable reserve force of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Diversify content, focus on improving the quality of branch activities, especially branch activities by topic," Comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong suggested.

Speaking at the Congress, comrade Nguyen Duc Loi - Party Secretary and Head of the agency acknowledged, appreciated and commended the achievements and results that the agency's youth union members have achieved.

According to him, these are quite comprehensive results covering many areas and work contents of each agency and unit. Union members in the union organizations have made important contributions to the overall achievements of the Central Agency of the Association and the Vietnam Journalists Association in the past term.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Loi assessed that the most important thing in a youth organization is the political ideology of its members. “It can be affirmed that in our agency, there is no member who shows negative political ideology from speech to action,” he said.

The Party Secretary of the agency acknowledged that in the last term, the development of the Party in the Youth Union was carried out well, with 11 Youth Union members introduced to the Party - exceeding the set target.

In particular, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the agency has carried out the procedures to request upgrading from a branch to a grassroots Youth Union directly under the Youth Union of the Central Agencies Bloc, including 3 branches. This is a very important step forward, thereby showing the efforts of the Youth Union organization to improve. Recently, 3 branches have organized a very successful congress, the members are distributed equally and reasonably.

He said that the ratio of youth union members to the total number of staff of the agency is 71/180, the union team has 24 party members, which is a high ratio - affirming the very important role of youth union members in the general activities of the agency. In addition, the union team has a high cultural level, all graduated from university and 10 have master's degrees. "High knowledge leads to good political awareness, that is a great advantage" , the head of the agency commented.

The contents of the congress received high consensus from the members.

In the coming time, he requested that the union activities must be carried out more actively and enthusiastically. The movements must closely follow the characteristics of the agency, have the unit's mark, not operate in a rut, and not only operate according to the general direction of the union.

Youth Union members must demonstrate their role in the digital transformation trend, in the movement to build a cultural environment in press agencies. Promote learning and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in conjunction with specific and creative activities and movements.

In particular, union members need to further affirm their role in the struggle to protect the Party's ideological foundation and proactively fight against erroneous and hostile arguments.

Besides, comrade Nguyen Duc Loi emphasized that the activities of the union must be widespread with the participation of a large number of youth union members. The activities must be practical, not just formal.

The Congress voted to elect the Executive Committee of the 6th term of the Youth Union, term 2024 - 2027.

At the Congress, delegates and youth union members listened, shared and discussed three key issues in the direction and tasks for the coming term. One is the work of political and ideological education for union members and youth. Two is the work of fighting against false and hostile information. Three is the work of raising awareness and enthusiasm when participating in union activities.

The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Youth Union of the agency, term VI, 2024-2027. Accordingly, comrade Nguyen Ngoc Long was elected as Secretary of the Youth Union of the Central Agency of the Vietnam Journalists Association; comrade Nguyen Dieu Linh - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the agency; comrade Nguyen Thi Tuyet Hanh - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the agency and 6 members.
