Google has just confirmed that they will start developing this operating system internally, instead of publicly on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) as before.

“All Android development will now take place in internal Google branches,” Google said, a significant change from its previous development approach, but also in line with recent moves by the company.
Android users will likely not notice any difference from this change. App developers will also be less affected. However, the tech community may have less access to AOSP leaks than before. For example, information about the Pixel 10 was recently discovered through code in AOSP. Limiting leaks can help avoid misunderstandings or false expectations from users.
Google is expected to make an official announcement later this week, and the change will go into effect next week.
In addition to the AOSP changes, Google is also making a number of notable Android-related improvements: Google Wallet on Android and Wear OS is getting support for the Aliro smart lock standard; new security measures on Google Play will be rolled out by 2025; PC games are coming to Android, while Google Play Games on Windows is coming out of beta.
