Increasing the rate of mechanization application in agricultural cooperatives

To improve production efficiency and keep up with the development trend of modern agriculture, agricultural cooperatives in the province have promoted the application of mechanization in production stages. Many types of modern machines and equipment are widely applied in production, contributing to improving labor productivity and the value of local agricultural products.

Increasing the rate of mechanization application in agricultural cooperatives Growing medium area for tray seedling production of Thieu Cong 36 Agricultural Cooperative (Thieu Hoa).

According to statistics from the Provincial Cooperative Union, as of March 2024, the province has 835 cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector. Through the survey, many cooperatives are interested in developing more members and mobilizing more capital contributions, investing in building greenhouses, hydroponic houses, purchasing combine harvesters, tillers, transplanters... applying synchronous mechanization to agricultural production.

In the spring crop of 2024, Thieu Cong 36 Agricultural Cooperative, Thieu Cong Commune (Thieu Hoa) produced more than 110,000 trays of seedlings, equivalent to about 1,000 hectares of planting. By applying mechanization to large-scale production, the Cooperative not only meets the needs of local people but also develops planting services for Dong Son, Yen Dinh, Tho Xuan districts... and some neighboring provinces such as Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, creating seasonal jobs for 45-50 local workers, with an income of 7-10 million VND/person/month. Director of the Cooperative Hoang Minh Duc said: "Previously, from land preparation, sowing to care, harvesting... all had to be done manually, but now most of it has been mechanized. To support people and promote the application of mechanization in agricultural production, the Cooperative has invested in 3 combine harvesters and 20 transplanters. The machines have helped farmers reduce a lot of labor and helped the Cooperative improve economic efficiency for service stages."

As one of the dynamic development units, Cam Thach General Service Cooperative (Cam Thuy) has invested hundreds of millions of VND to build a tray-planting production area and borrowed from other credit sources to invest in plows and straw rolling machines to increase the efficiency of service activities. Director of the Cooperative Phung Ba Thang said: "As a mountainous locality, the demand for straw in cultivation and livestock farming is very large. In recent years, the situation of burning straw after harvest is both wasteful and polluting the environment. We have bought straw rolling machines to buy back the amount of straw and stubble after harvest from people to store and supply to those in need."

According to the calculation of Cam Thach General Service Cooperative, each day the machine can collect and roll 500 straw rolls, weighing 15kg/roll, equivalent to about 4 hectares of rice fields. With the selling price at the field of about 20 - 25 thousand VND/roll, the income during the harvest season of the Cooperative can reach 10 - 12 million VND/day. Investing in machinery for production not only brings revenue to the Cooperative but also helps protect the environment, develop sustainable agriculture, and create more jobs for local workers.

In order to improve the effectiveness of synchronous mechanization application in agricultural production, every year the Provincial Cooperative Union has coordinated with relevant units to organize training and study tours for cooperative members. From the funding source of the Cooperative Development Support Fund, it has created conditions for cooperatives to access preferential loans to purchase machinery and equipment for production. Along with that, from 2018 to present, thanks to a series of policies supporting mechanization in agricultural production according to the resolutions of the Provincial People's Council, 28 cooperatives have been supported with funding to purchase transplanters, combine harvesters, dryers to improve production efficiency, with a total cost of more than 17 billion VND and 10 cooperatives have been supported with counterpart funding to purchase sugarcane harvesting machines, build sugarcane irrigation systems on the field, with an implementation cost of more than 31.7 billion VND. Through the support source, agricultural cooperatives in the province have improved production and business efficiency, creating jobs for local workers. At the same time, it contributes to increasing the rate of mechanization in the production of major crops such as: rice, land preparation rate 98%, planting rate 22%, harvesting rate 82%, transportation rate 79%; corn, land preparation rate 88%, planting rate 7%, harvesting rate 16%, transportation rate 84%; peanuts, land preparation rate 62%, transportation rate 55%. Sugarcane, land preparation rate 99%, planting rate 20%, harvesting rate 15%, transportation rate 95%. Cassava, land preparation rate 83%, transportation rate 71%...
