(CLO) President Donald Trump and Elon Musk have stressed the need for "complete transparency" in efforts to eliminate waste, fraud and budget abuse.
In an interview on Fox News' "Hannity" show on Wednesday, the two warned that if the budget deficit is not addressed, the United States faces bankruptcy.
Billionaire Musk, who was appointed by Trump to lead DOGE, said his goal is to eliminate bureaucracy, cut unnecessary spending, and restructure federal agencies. He stressed that all of DOGE’s actions can be tracked on DOGE.gov to ensure transparency.
President Trump praised Elon Musk for taking on the heavy responsibility, calling it a necessary job. He said the US is facing serious financial problems and needs the best people to solve them.

DOGE has targeted several federal agencies, including the Agency for International Development (USAID), the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of Education, but has also faced opposition from many Democrats. Elon Musk has dismissed the criticism, saying that the protesters are the ones benefiting from waste and fraud.
Elon Musk warned that without addressing the budget deficit, vital programs like health care and social security will not be able to be sustained. He stressed that the US has no choice but to cut spending or fall into unmanageable debt.
Billionaire Elon Musk also dismissed the idea that one could seek refuge in other countries if the US collapsed, asserting that if the US economy fails, the entire global system will collapse as well.
President Trump has made balancing the budget a priority for his second term, which he believes can be achieved quickly through cuts in DOGE spending and tax revenue, along with other economic policies.
Mr. Trump warned that without immediate action, the United States would continue to plunge into financial crisis.
