The US state of Colorado has removed an oil painting of President Donald Trump from its legislative building.
Colorado state lawmakers decided on March 25 to remove a portrait of Mr. Trump. Earlier, the White House owner had posted on the social network Truth Social criticizing the painting.
“Nobody likes a bad picture of themselves, but the one in Colorado, placed by the governor next to other U.S. presidents, was deliberately distorted in a way I have never seen. It was the artist who painted former President Barack Obama and Obama looked great. However, the one I painted was the worst. Her talent has probably faded as she got older,” Trump wrote.

The US president did not specify what features of the portrait he was upset about. Following the post, Democratic lawmakers in the Colorado House of Representatives said the oil painting of Mr. Trump would be taken down at the request of Republicans, The Guardian reported.
Mr Trump then posted two official portraits of himself as the 45th and 47th president of the United States. He added: “Many people in Colorado have written a complaint and I speak on their behalf to ask the far-left Governor Jared Polis to take it down.”

The painting was actually commissioned by a group of Republican officials in 2019, through a fundraising campaign that raised nearly $10,000. The Colorado Capitol did not have a portrait of Trump during his first term. Politico reported that the presidential portraits in Colorado are not under the jurisdiction of the governor’s office, but rather the Colorado Building Advisory Committee.
