On November 8, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee issued a decision approving the task of planning the construction zoning (scale 1/2000) of the Northeast Ninh Hoa Urban and Residential Service Area (Zone 16 of Van Phong Economic Zone).
The planning area is the entire area of subdivision 16 of 19 subdivisions in the project to adjust the general planning for construction of Van Phong Economic Zone, Khanh Hoa province to 2040, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, the Northeast Ninh Hoa Urban and Residential Service Area will have a total area of over 2,800 hectares in Ninh Tho commune, Ninh An commune and Ninh Diem ward (Ninh Hoa town), of which the mainland area is nearly 2,700 hectares (expected sea encroachment area is over 53 hectares); the sea surface area is about over 130 hectares.
The nature of the planning area is an existing residential village, a coastal ecological urban area. It is forecasted that the urban service and residential area of Northeast Ninh Hoa has about 30,000 people.
According to the plan, Van Phong Economic Zone has an area of about 150,000 hectares, of which the water surface is about 80,000 hectares, the mainland and islands are about 70,000 hectares. The scope includes the entire natural area of 12 communes and towns of Van Ninh district and 9 wards and communes of Ninh Hoa town (Khanh Hoa).
By 2050, Van Phong Economic Zone will become a dynamic, smart, sustainable, and unique economic center, with a connection between socio-economic development and national defense and security, contributing to making Vietnam a strong, sustainable, and prosperous maritime nation.
