Candidates who meet the requirements will be exempted from all subjects in the high school graduation exam. These are the following specific cases:
Students are summoned to participate in the national team selection exam for the International Olympic or Regional Olympic cultural subjects with the condition that they are summoned in the second semester of grade 12. The training results for the entire year of grade 12 must be Good, the learning results for the entire year of grade 12 must be Fair or higher and their names are on the list of exemptions from the exam of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Students of the team participating in international or regional Olympic competitions in science, technology, culture and arts. They are called up in the second semester of grade 12; have training and study results for the entire year of grade 12 at the level of Pass or higher. Students whose names are in the official letter requesting exemption from the exam and confirming to attend training and take the exam in accordance with the regulations of the selection agency sent to the Department of Education and Training before the high school graduation exam date.
Cases of extremely severe disabilities and severe disabilities; resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals whose working capacity is reduced by 61% or more; children of resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals whose working capacity is reduced by 61% or more.
In particular, people with disabilities who do not meet the general education program must have the Principal of the high school where they register to study confirm the results of implementing the individual education plan each year at the high school level; have a certificate of disability issued by a competent authority.
Have a foreign language certificate but still take the exam to get graduation results
This year's exam has a new point: the Ministry of Education and Training has eliminated the conversion of 10 points for candidates with qualified foreign language certificates. Instead, candidates with one of the foreign language certificates are only exempted from the Foreign Language exam in the high school graduation exam.
In addition, members of the national team participating in the International Olympic Competition in Foreign Languages according to the Decision of the Minister of Education and Training are also exempted from the Foreign Language exam.
Candidates should note that if they are eligible for exemption from the Foreign Language exam but still want to take this subject in the graduation exam, they must use the results to calculate the high school graduation score.
This year's exam regulations also stipulate additional cases of exemption from the Literature exam in the consideration of high school graduation recognition. That is the case where foreigners with a Vietnamese language certificate according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners (level 3 or higher) are exempted from the Literature exam in the consideration of high school graduation recognition. For those who are eligible for exemption from the Literature exam but still want to take the Literature exam in the graduation exam, they must use the Literature exam results to calculate the high school graduation score.
The 2025 High School Graduation Exam is the first year of taking the exam according to the new plan of the 2018 general education program to assess students' abilities.
The new point of the exam is to reduce 2 subjects and 1 exam session compared to previous years. Accordingly, the exam will be held in 3 sessions, including 1 exam session for Literature, 1 exam session for Math and 1 exam session for 2 optional subjects. According to the Ministry of Education and Training, this year's exam will take place in 2 days, June 26-27, 2025.
