The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has just issued the latest bulletin announcing that severe heat will continue to occur in the North and Central regions.
Yesterday (May 31), in the North and the area from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, it was hot with the highest temperature of 35-38 degrees, many places exceeded 40 degrees, especially some areas in Son La such as Muong La 43.3 degrees, Song Ma 42 degrees, Yen Chau 40.5 degrees; in addition, Bac Me (Ha Giang) was also at 42 degrees, Bao Lac (Cao Bang) 41.7 degrees, Tuong Duong (Nghe An) 40.4 degrees...
In the next 2 days, the heat and temperature in the above areas will continue to increase. Specifically, today (June 1), the North and from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue will have heat and severe heat, some places will be especially severe with the highest temperature of 35-38 degrees, some places over 39 degrees; the lowest relative humidity is 40-60%.
From June 2-3, the temperature in the above area increased to 36-39 degrees, in some places over 40 degrees.
In the area from Da Nang to Phu Yen, the heat is milder, but still at 35-37 degrees, some places above 37 degrees.
Meteorological experts note that the predicted temperature in the heat bulletin and the actual temperature felt outdoors can differ by 2-4 degrees, or even higher depending on the conditions of the surface such as concrete and asphalt.
Although this heat wave did not cover as much land as the previous one, it lasted for a whole week, causing a feeling of stuffiness and discomfort and significantly affecting people's lives.
It was not until May 4 that the heat in the North and the area from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen tended to gradually ease.
Experts say the temperature in this area will only drop by about 1-2 degrees, still at the hot level, but there will be thunderstorms so the weather will be milder.
Since the beginning of the year, the North and Central regions have suffered two peak heat waves. The wave after the April 30-May 1 holiday recorded a record of 44.1 degrees Celsius in Hoi Xuan (Quan Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province). The recent heat wave lasted for many days (from May 16-23) and the temperature was continuously high at approximately 40 degrees Celsius, with many places reaching 41-42 degrees Celsius.
According to meteorological experts, from June to August, heat waves will continue to occur in the North and Central regions with more days than the average of many years and more severe than the same period last year.
In particular, each heat wave usually lasts 5-7 days; the highest temperature in the North is about 37-38 degrees; in the Central region 37-39 degrees, some places are higher from 40-42 degrees.
Experts note that due to the impact of the heat wave concentrated in the North and Central regions, it is necessary to guard against the risk of fire and explosion in residential and production areas due to the high demand for electricity and the high risk of forest fires. In addition, nationwide, it is necessary to guard against dangerous weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, and hail that can greatly affect production and people's activities.
