The Ministry of Education and Training has decided not to adjust the time of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam as proposed by some Departments of Education and Training. Accordingly, the exam will still be held on June 26-27 as planned. The entrance exam schedule for grade 10 of specialized and non-specialized high schools in Hanoi will take place from June 7-9.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has just issued detailed instructions for high school grade 10 admissions for schools and students to take note of. Hanoi plans to start grading essay and multiple-choice tests immediately after the exam ends, ensuring the process to announce exam results on July 4-6, about a month after the exam is held.
This year, the entire city continues to be divided into 12 enrollment areas for students to carefully study before registering their wishes (NV). Each student can register for a maximum of 3 NVs to public high schools, ranked in order NV1, NV2, NV3. Of which, NV1 and NV2 must be in the same enrollment area where the student or parent or guardian has a permanent residence; NV3 can enter any high school. Students should note that after registering for NVs, there will be no adjustment. If a student only registers for 2 NVs to enroll in two high schools, he/she must register NV1 in the enrollment area according to regulations and NV2 in any area. Students who only register for 1 NV will be able to register for a school in any area.
According to teachers' experience, students need to rely on the school's quality tests and the 10th grade high school entrance exam scores of 3 consecutive years as a basis for NV registration. When placing NV, students should not choose schools with benchmark scores that exceed their capacity, which will create pressure during exams.
Regarding the admission principles, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training stipulates that for public high schools, students who have passed NV1 will not be considered for NV2 and NV3. Students who do not pass NV1 will be considered for NV2 but must have an admission score at least 1.0 points higher than the school's NV1 admission standard. Students who do not pass NV1 and NV2 will be considered for NV3 but must have an admission score at least 2.0 points higher than the school's NV1 admission standard. When the admission standard is lowered, public high schools are allowed to admit students with NV2 and NV3 who meet the admission requirements.

In order to facilitate students, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also allows students to change their enrollment area for those who live in areas bordering enrollment areas or whose actual residence is different from their permanent residence. However, NV1 and NV2 must register for admission to 2 public high schools in the changed enrollment area and NV3 to a school in any area. In these cases, students should note that they must submit an application to change the enrollment area, stating the reason and have it confirmed by the head of the unit where the enrollment registration form is received.
This year, the city is expected to have about 127,000 students taking the junior high school graduation exam and public high schools will only enroll about 79,000 students. However, Mr. Tuan also said that Hanoi will ensure that 100% of junior high school graduates who wish to continue their studies are admitted to high schools, vocational education and training centers, and vocational training institutions that enroll junior high school graduates, while also implementing the State's policy on student orientation after graduating from junior high school.
