Pepper prices today, March 10, 2025, in the domestic market are stable in key localities, trading from 157,000 - 162,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 159,000 VND/kg.

Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (157,000 VND/kg); Dak Lak (161,500 VND/kg); Dak Nong (162,000 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (159,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (159,000 VND/kg).

Thus, pepper prices today are stable in key growing areas. The highest pepper price is at 162,000 VND/kg.

Domestically, localities are rushing to harvest the new crop. Last week, pepper prices increased well, but decreased slightly at the end of the week. Commenting on the market this week, experts said that the volume of new crops is holding back the market's growth. However, this year, farmers are in no rush to sell, and people are still reminding each other to harvest slowly and sell calmly.

This is a big change in the sales mindset of many pepper growers. Before, they harvested and sold everything, and when the price was high, there was no more left. Now, the gardens know to stock up and wait for the price to go up. Therefore, the market is very unpredictable and depends on when China increases its purchases again.

According to newly released data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, pepper exports in the first two months of 2025 reached 28 thousand tons. The average export price of pepper in the first two months of 2025 is estimated at 6,750.5 USD/ton, up 67.7% over the same period in 2024. The US, Germany and India are the three largest pepper consuming markets of Vietnam, accounting for market shares of 24.8%, 10.7% and 8% respectively.

According to preliminary statistics of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), by the end of February 2025, Vietnam had exported 27,416 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 22,360 tons and white pepper reached 5,056 tons. Total export turnover reached 184.9 million USD, compared to the same period in 2024, the export volume decreased by 11.9% but the turnover increased by 48.1% compared to the same period last year. The average export price of pepper in the first two months of the year reached 6,746 USD/ton, an increase of 68.2% compared to the same period in 2024.

Pepper prices in India have increased by more than 40% in the past two years, and experts warn that prices could continue to rise due to reduced production in major growing areas, according to The Times of India .

Limited supplies due to adverse weather, falling inventories and changes in cultivation patterns in major producing countries have contributed to the rise in pepper prices. The farmgate price stood at Rs 450 per kg two years ago but has now touched Rs 650 per kg.

A. Arvind Rao, president of the Karnataka Pepper Growers Association, said crop yields have fallen by nearly 40%. By the time the harvest season ends, prices could reach Rs 700 a kg. “Severe drought in April and May, followed by heavy rains in July, has significantly affected the crop,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nanda Bailappa, President of the Coorg Pepper Growers Association, stressed that pepper stocks in India are very low and no new supply is expected for at least the next two months.
