Faced with the increasing saline intrusion in the 2024-2025 dry season, the People's Committee of Long An province directed relevant agencies to deploy response measures to protect water sources for daily life and agricultural production.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the peak of saltwater intrusion in Long An province is expected to occur from March to April 2025, especially during the periods from March 10-15, March 29-April 3 and April 27-May 1. To proactively respond, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Long An province requires relevant agencies to urgently deploy solutions to protect water resources and limit damage caused by drought and salinity.

Thereby, closely monitoring the situation of saline intrusion, updating forecasts to promptly warn people. At the same time, the province will deploy technical measures such as controlling water quality, operating the saline prevention sluice system, regulating water resources reasonably, as well as guiding people to apply water-saving irrigation methods to protect agricultural production.

Response measures to protect water resources for daily life and agricultural production.

In addition, localities at high risk of water shortage will be reviewed and reserve water sources from drilled wells will be utilized to ensure domestic water supply. Important irrigation works will also be inspected and repaired promptly to prevent salinity and store fresh water effectively.
