Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai conducted a field survey and listened to reports from Hon Dat Forest Protection Department, Hon Dat District People's Committee, Kien Giang Forest Management Board, Department of Agriculture and Environment, and a number of relevant departments, branches, and agencies on the management and coordination of forest land management in Hon Dat district.
According to Kien Giang Forest Management Board, the Melaleuca forest ecosystem in Nam Thai Son and Binh Son communes, Hon Dat district, covers an area of over 4,297 hectares, divided into 3 areas; of which, area 1 has been assigned to 226 households, with an area of 1,123 hectares.
Area 2 has been contracted to VRG Kien Giang MDF Wood Joint Stock Company with an area of 1,443.8 hectares. The vegetation is mainly branches after exploitation, dry, and prone to forest fires in the dry season.
Area 3 has an area of 1,730.42 ha and is not contracted. This area is divided into 14 forest plots. The main vegetation is u du and dry nia; the forest plots planted from 2014-2018 have a thick layer of vegetation, this area is prone to forest fires, easy to spread and burn widely. Traffic inside the forest has 5 large canals.

The comrade acknowledged and commended the Standing Militia Fleet, although a newly established unit, but its officers and soldiers have overcome difficulties in terms of lack of facilities, tried their best to train and perform their tasks, and are an extended arm to protect fishermen, a support for fishermen to go offshore and protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands.
