The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just decided to announce the Fishing Festival in Cam Lam village, Xuan Lien commune (Nghi Xuan - Ha Tinh) as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Cam Lam village's fishing festival takes place in early spring, on the full moon day of January, associated with Dong Hai temple in Lam Hoa village (Xuan Lien commune), worshiping Dong Hai Dai Vuong - Ca Ong (whale). The temple has a history of hundreds of years and has been ranked as a provincial historical and cultural relic.
This is a long-standing traditional festival, a cultural and religious feature of fishermen in Xuan Lien commune and surrounding communes with fishing professions at sea. After many years of being lost, the festival has recently been restored.

The Cam Lam village fishing festival consists of a ceremony and a festival. The ceremony is solemnly organized, including a ceremony at the temple and a procession of the Dong Hai Dai Vuong to the sea: praying for favorable weather, favorable winds, abundant fish and shrimp at sea, and for people to go out to sea to fish safely and successfully.

The festival is organized with many folk games, folk art performances such as: Kieu play, Vi and Giam folk songs... lively and bustling. Besides preserving traditional cultural values, the festival also creates an atmosphere of solidarity, joining hands to develop fisheries, and build the homeland for the people of Xuan Lien in particular and fishermen in the surrounding area in general.

With its unique spiritual and cultural values and religious practices, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has included the Cam Lam Village Fishing Festival in the list of national intangible cultural heritage.
Up to now, Ha Tinh has had 4 festivals included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, including: Le Khoi Temple Festival, Hai Thuong Lan Ong Festival, Nhuong Ban Fishing Festival and Cam Lam Village Fishing Festival.
