The People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District (Hanoi) is completing a project to renovate Ly Thai To flower garden, opposite Hoan Kiem Lake.

Regarding the renovation and embellishment plan, the flower garden space will be reorganized into three main areas: the celebration area, the trumpet house area and the flower garden park area.

The celebration area includes the lobby, the celebration yard and the incense offering yard. Expand the celebration yard towards the sidewalk of Dinh Tien Hoang street, with Km0 located in the center of the celebration yard.

Informing Tuoi Tre Online on March 22, a leader of the Hoan Kiem District Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the selection of the location for the Km0 milestone was carried out by the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee on the basis of careful research, consultation with experts and scientists, and organizing a design competition to find the optimal solution.

The Km0 Landmark Design Competition organized by the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District in 2020 attracted 100 entries from architects, painters, and sculptors nationwide.

The first prize winning project - Light Gate - was highly appreciated for its symbolism, creativity, and ability to apply modern technology in design.

According to this person, the Km0 milestone will not only be a construction that determines the starting point of routes, to calculate the distance from Hanoi to other localities, but also an important cultural, historical and tourist symbol of Hanoi.

At the same time, it contributes to enriching the experience for people and tourists when coming to Hoan Kiem Lake.

It is expected that at the Km0 milestone, a square copper plate measuring 2020 x 2020mm, cast in one piece and 60mm thick, will be installed.

The focal point is a 440 x 440mm square symbolizing the capital Hanoi, from here radiate the surrounding grooves. There are 31 raised edges and 31 sunken edges symbolizing 62 provinces and cities, combined with the central raised edge to form a model of 63 provinces and cities.

The square center has a circle with a diameter of 400mm, surrounded by a cluster of 4 sculptures with dragon motifs from the Ly Dynasty, the clockwise movement increases the recognition mark of Thang Long citadel with a surrounding granite border carved with patterns.

In addition, a system of LED floor lights will be installed around the relief; a lighting frame system with different scenarios for each event.
