(Dan Tri) - Haus Da Lat was meticulously designed by legendary designer Kengo Kuma, taking 5 years of research and development with his colleagues to bring a new design language and art exclusively to Da Lat.
This is the factor that makes the project valuable, making it one of Kengo Kuma's lifetime works in the middle of Da Lat city.
Kengo Kuma's lifetime artwork in the midst of Dalat heritage
Kengo Kuma is the founder of the architectural firm Kengo Kuma and Associates. He was named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2021.
Kengo Kuma pursues sustainable architecture through the use of materials, showing respect for nature and local cultural characteristics. This is in harmony with The One Destination - the investor of Haus Da Lat - a pioneer in creating ESG real estate in Vietnam.
Haus Da Lat is designed to blur the line between architecture and the surrounding landscape.
Haus Da Lat was designed by Kengo Kuma for architecture and landscape. Kuma claims that this is the city's leading "pine forest conservation" project, creating a deep connection between people and nature, while blurring the line between architecture and landscape.
The flower gate is a major highlight of Haus Da Lat architecture.
Welcoming residents and visitors of Haus Da Lat back home every day is a flower gate with a special curved arch design made from thinly split, hand-bent natural wood combined with special wood processing techniques from Kengo Kuma, creating a lasting mark over time, unaffected by weather and environment.
Flowers are planted by arrangement artists in collaboration with Kengo Kuma's landscape partner to bloom all year round across the gate's surface, starting the art exhibition journey from the first steps to Haus Da Lat.
Coffee station.
Passing through the flower gate, visitors and residents can stroll through the "pine forest conservation project", interspersed with unique coffee stations. The coffee stations are designed according to the Japanese art of paper folding and can be closed at night.
Butterfly rest stop.
Residents can also rest at the resting spots under the pine trees, designed with inspiration from the 5.3m high butterfly-shaped dome, hand-assembled from individual artistic wooden blocks. This is also the highlight of Kengo Kuma's unique material arrangement art exclusively for Haus Da Lat.
"The buildings don't need to be too big to be impressive. Instead, we focus on sophistication and detail, creating hidden beauty that users only recognize when experiencing directly," Kengo Kuma shared.
Blurring the line between architecture and landscape
Haus Da Lat includes 3 luxury apartment buildings with 68 Sky Villas and Sky Mansions with long-term ownership, a commercial center and a resort complex with the InterContinental brand appearing for the first time in Da Lat.
The entire Haus Da Lat project was inspired by the image of pine forests and pine cones by Kengo Kuma to create a unique architectural symbol. With the sophistication in the arrangement of natural materials, this will be a project that challenges construction materials and visual arts.
Kuma said the pine cones (commonly known as pine cones) have a complex yet humble structure amidst the vast green pine forest. The exterior of the building is impressively designed with balconies arranged staggered like the scales of pine cones.

"The balcony system is like a buffer space that protects the house from the outside environment. It creates shade, limiting direct sunlight into the house, thereby making the living space cooler. Later, the growing shrub system will direct the sound so that the inside of the house is always quiet and peaceful, while creating privacy for each Sky Villas & Sky Mansions", Kengo Kuma shared.

Kengo Kuma loves wood and wants to make the material new and special. At Haus Da Lat, instead of just using raw concrete, Kuma applies the technique of printing and splicing each wood grain onto the building's surface. This technique not only "softens" the building's exterior design but also creates a warm and natural surface, bringing a sense of harmony with the surrounding environment.
Haus Residences lobby.
The building’s central lobby is designed with multiple overlapping layers, evoking the image of spreading tree canopies. This not only enhances aesthetics but also improves natural ventilation and shading. It is both a visual symbol and shapes a warm space to welcome residents back home.
Every detail is meticulously and elaborately designed.
In the lobby of Haus Residences, Kengo Kuma chose to use marble and wooden ceilings designed in the Naguri style using manual methods (impacting the wood surface to create indentations, shadows formed on the indentations reflect natural light from the outside, creating emotions and warmth for the interior space).
To ensure that the project is delivered with aesthetic quality and construction as per the drawings, Kengo Kuma collaborated with The One Destination to bring to Vietnam skilled Japanese craftsmen to construct special details as well as the overall architecture of the building, so that each house is a work of art.
Haus Da Lat adds to the beauty of Dalat.
"With lush green gardens, trees and flowers integrated into each area of the project, Haus Da Lat brings closeness to nature, reflecting the climate and vegetation characteristics of the highlands. This combined with the design that blurs the boundary between architecture and nature will make Haus Da Lat a new architectural work of art in Vietnam," Kuma said about his lifetime design in Da Lat.
Haus Da Lat has a combination of many world legends.
In addition to the expensive architecture, Haus Da Lat also has the cooperation of the "wizard" who lights up world-famous buildings - Isometrix Lighting & Design, the space installation artist for billionaires - 1508 London and the world's leading therapist and health care expert Chiva-Som.
