Kengo Kuma & his colleagues have spent more than 5 years continuously coming to Da Lat to research and nurture the design of a lifetime. In the heart of the “city of thousands of pine trees”, Kengo Kuma said, Haus Da Lat will be the largest “pine forest conservation” project in the city, blurring the line between architectural works and landscape environment.
Kengo Kuma focuses on the image of the pine cone, a part of a pine tree, to create a distinctive architectural symbol. With the sophistication in the arrangement of natural materials, this will be a project that challenges construction materials and visual arts, creating the appearance of an installation art work, but at the same time promoting environmental awareness and sustainability for future generations.
To create a project in harmony with nature, Kengo Kuma chose to join hands with Isometrix, a globally renowned lighting design company behind iconic lighting projects around the world.
Isometrix designed Haus Da Lat based on the actual lighting of the environment, and blending in with nature. “The entire lighting design is hidden behind the building to honor the architecture. The lighting system will be programmed from the beginning to flexibly change the light and color according to each time of day, year, regardless of weekdays or holidays,” Isometrix representative revealed about the lighting design.
1508 London, the luxury interior design company behind iconic projects for billionaires, famous apartments and hotels in many countries, chose Haus Da Lat as its first project in Vietnam.
