Proposal to allocate more than 4,000 billion VND for 4 projects to improve the water environment of Ho Chi Minh City

The Ho Chi Minh City Transport Committee proposed that the Department of Construction allocate medium-term capital for the 2026-2030 period for 4 projects to improve the city's water environment with a total capital of more than 4,000 billion VND.

The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) has just sent Document No. 6375/BQLDAGT-KHĐT to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction proposing to record medium-term capital for the period 2026-2030 from the City budget for 4 projects to improve the water environment of Ho Chi Minh City invested by the Traffic Board.

In particular, the project to build the Hang Bang canal section from Binh Tien street to Pham Dinh Ho street (including dredging the canal, building embankments and green areas along the two banks of the canal - phase 3) is proposed to have a capital of 2,400 billion VND in the period 2026-2030.

Currently, the Project is adjusting its public investment policy and is expected to complete the investment policy in 2025 for investment in the 2026-2030 period.

Next is the Ho Chi Minh City Water Environment Improvement Project Phase 3, which is proposed to allocate 1,354 billion VND.

Regarding progress, the City People's Committee has assigned the Traffic Department to prepare for investment in the project. Currently, the departments and branches have just given their opinions, the Traffic Department is finalizing the project proposal documents, and is expected to resubmit the documents in the fourth quarter of 2024.

For the City Water Environment Improvement Project (Phase 2), the Traffic Committee proposed to allocate medium-term capital for the period 2026-2030 of 50 billion VND to record the project's final settlement capital and allocate 300 billion VND for the dredging item of package F2 - canal renovation.

Therefore, to ensure capital for project implementation, the Traffic Committee recommends that the Department of Construction synthesize and recommend competent authorities to record medium-term capital for 2026-2030 for the above projects.
