Hanoi Department of Transport Inspectorate has implemented many solutions to tighten control of boats carrying passengers to Huong Pagoda to ensure safety for tourists.
According to Mr. Bui Ngoc Tan - Captain of the Inland Waterway Traffic Inspection Team, before the festival took place, the unit coordinated with teams such as the Hanoi Department of Transport Inspectorate and the My Duc District Traffic Inspectorate to actively propagate and mobilize each business household to fully equip life buoys, ensuring absolute safety conditions for tourists during operations.
To ensure safety, the Inspectorate continuously uses loudspeakers to remind boat drivers to strictly comply with regulations.
Currently, the Inland Waterway Traffic Inspection Team has mobilized 100% of its personnel to continuously patrol and control more than 4,000 boats and canoes moving on Yen stream and require boat owners and drivers to comply with legal regulations, remove roofs, engines and equip floating equipment on boats. Absolutely do not allow homemade boats and motorboats to carry passengers on Yen stream.
Mr. Tan's assessment shows that, through inspection, most vehicles strictly comply. In particular, the situation of soliciting passengers to take ferries and boats has ended.
"In previous years, ferry and boat transportation was carried out spontaneously by the people of Huong Son commune without any management. However, this year, the People's Committee of My Duc district has established the Huong Pagoda Service and Tourism Cooperative. Therefore, the passenger transportation activities of ferry drivers have been regulated to ensure civilization. This year, there has been no phenomenon of soliciting, overcharging and overcharging passengers. Because, ferry drivers who want to transport passengers will have to accept regulation from the cooperative," Mr. Tan affirmed.
According to Mr. Tan, all boats and ferries at Yen wharf must meet safety requirements before leaving the wharf, must be registered, equipped with life buoys, floating tools and especially not allowed to carry more people than the prescribed number. For cases of intentional violations, the Inland Waterway Traffic Inspection Team will coordinate with My Duc District Police and the Huong Pagoda Festival Management Board to resolutely handle them according to regulations.
It is known that lifeboats are always on duty 24/7 to handle any incidents that may occur.
