All kinds of machinery, car and motorbike lights, scales, automatic packaging, metal bending machines... from 300 graduation projects of students were displayed and introduced at the Technology Exhibition and Recruitment Day of the Engineering and Technology Sector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) on August 26.

Here, more than 40 technology and engineering employers offer nearly 3,600 jobs and internships.

Instead of CVs or verbal introductions, students choose to approach businesses with their own products and inventions. With this method, many students are "closed" on-the-spot employment contracts by businesses.

Mr. Pham Hoang Hai - Technical Director of EV1 Charging Equipment and Solutions Company - shared that the company has discussed and interviewed a number of candidates with professional qualifications that meet recruitment needs.

Talking about the market, Mr. Hai said that the science and engineering industry, especially the fields of electrical automation and mechatronics, currently has a very high demand for recruitment. This field requires specific criteria for candidates such as having basic knowledge, specialized knowledge of the field of study, good English communication, being able to draw Autocad software, programming BOC, HMI...

According to representatives of many businesses, the science and technology field has the characteristic of not being able to recruit people through empty words, lip service or promises.

In this field, employers need to clearly see the candidate's desire, understanding, knowledge and skills through specific products and inventions.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Khoa - Project Development Director of Eagle Fly Focus Solar Green Energy Joint Stock Company - said that the field of engineering and technology has a constant need for recruitment. However, employers are increasingly "difficult", accepting to "pave the sand for gold" and requiring candidates to have deep and broad knowledge.

In addition, candidates must have the qualities of discipline, seriousness, responsibility for work, desire to learn, work effectively individually as well as have a team spirit.

Associate Professor Dr. Le Hoai Quoc, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association, assessed that the trend of moving traditional industries to neighboring localities, where land costs and input resources are cheaper than in Ho Chi Minh City, is increasingly clear.

This requires the Ho Chi Minh City industry to restructure towards modernity, high technology, high value-added segments, and increased labor productivity. It is necessary to quickly build a core industrial system to replace land- and labor-intensive industries.

This creates a huge demand for high-quality human resources in the science, technology and engineering sectors. Along with that, according to Associate Professor, Dr. Le Hoai Quoc, the city needs to have policies to attract high-quality human resources to carry out the restructuring process.

According to the Center for Human Resources Demand Forecasting and Labor Market Information of Ho Chi Minh City, by 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will have about 270,000 jobs each year, including 130,000 new jobs.

In the total demand for trained human resources, the technical and technological professions group accounts for the highest proportion at 35%; followed by the economic, financial, banking, legal and administrative professions group at 33%; the natural sciences group at 7%, and other professions at 3-5%.
