As of this afternoon, August 2, 143 young doctors in Ho Chi Minh City have officially "joined the army" at hospitals and medical facilities through the 2024 Health Sector Job Fair.
On the morning of August 2, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health organized the Summary of the pilot practice program at the general hospital associated with the medical station - Course 2 and the Health Sector Job Fair.
According to Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, during this period, 116 young doctors who had just completed the pilot practice program at a general hospital attached to a health station were also granted practice certificates. This event marked an important step in improving the practical skills and experience of young doctors. Doctors had the opportunity to work directly at general hospitals and health stations, access many real clinical situations, and learn from experts.
"The program has achieved its goal of improving the quality of primary health care services, while encouraging young doctors to participate in community health activities, aiming for sustainable and comprehensive development," said Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau.
Also at this event, 53 medical units participated in recruiting 370 positions to supplement human resources, meeting the health care needs of people in the city. Each hospital and center with recruitment needs will be arranged a counter for young doctors to register for jobs. Leaders of the units can quickly interview candidates, considering their suitability for each job position. Candidates can ask many questions about the unit before making a decision.
According to Dr. Cao Tan Phuoc, Director of Thu Duc Regional General Hospital, this year's Medical Career Fair is expanded to include two groups of subjects: 116 doctors of the pilot practice program and other doctors who have a practice certificate.
Dr. Cao Tan Phuoc commented that young doctors from the second pilot practice program have a good foundation and experience opportunities, and are a quality source of human resources for hospitals and medical centers. During this period, Thu Duc Regional General Hospital is recruiting 15 positions to prepare for the new facility to be operational by the end of 2024.
At the job fair, young doctor Do Tran Cong Trong (2016-2022 course, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy) said that right after the Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Tang Chi Thuong came to the school to share about the internship program at the general hospital associated with the health station, he immediately registered to participate. During the internship, doctor Do Tran Cong Trong came into contact with many patients in need of primary health care, learned from good doctors, and had many career advantages.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nguyen Trong Thuc, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, shared that the practice period at the medical station is a valuable experience for medical students, helping young doctors get closer to patients.
“We met many patients from the elderly to the young, talked with the uncles and aunts more, and understood the psychology and needs of the patients. This is a valuable asset in my future career journey,” said Dr. Nguyen Trong Thuc.

As a facility that met its recruitment target in just 30 minutes, Children's Hospital 1 received 3 doctors to work in the Quality Management Department. Meanwhile, a representative of Ho Chi Minh City Mental Hospital commented that the young doctors recruited at the 2023 job fair have demonstrated their professional capacity, dynamism and creativity. This year, the City Mental Hospital aims to recruit 5 doctors and is committed to creating all conditions for young doctors to develop their capacity, express themselves as well as many opportunities to study abroad.
