This evening (September 26), informing VietNamNet reporters, the leader of Thai Binh Provincial Police said that the unit's Investigation Police Agency has initiated a case, executed an emergency detention order, and an emergency search warrant for the residences and workplaces of many leaders, reporters, and employees of the Vietnam Environment and Urban Magazine to continue to expand the investigation into the property extortion case that occurred at this magazine.

Based on collected documents and evidence, on September 25, the Investigation Police Agency of Thai Binh Province Police issued a decision to prosecute the case of property extortion that occurred at the Vietnam Environment and Urban Magazine according to the provisions of Clause 3, Article 170 of the Penal Code.

On September 26, Thai Binh Provincial Police issued an order to detain people in emergency cases and an order to urgently search the residences and workplaces of: Nguyen Thi Anh Hong (born in 1977, residing in Linh Nam ward, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi), Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Environment and Urban Magazine; Dang Van Phuc (born in 1986, residing in Binh Minh commune, Thanh Oai district, Hanoi) and Vu Duc Lan (born in 1981, residing in Xuan Phuong ward, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi), both reporters, to investigate the behavior showing signs of criminal property extortion under Article 170 of the Penal Code.

Mr. Dong Xuan Thu (born in 1972, residing in Lang Ha ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi) is Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Environment and Urban Areas Magazine (address at Office building C1 Thanh Cong, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi).

Mr. Bui Van Toan (born in 1980, residing in Hanoi) is Head of Economic Department.

Ms. Cao Thi Thu Huong (born in 1989, residing in Ta Thanh Oai commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi) is an accountant.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuyen (born in 1989, residing in Vu Chinh commune, Thai Binh city) is a reporter.

Mr. Nguyen Tat Trien (born in 1978, residing in Tran Lam ward, Thai Binh city) is a reporter.

All eight of them work at the Vietnam Environment and Urban Magazine.
