After exam score scandal, Thai Binh appoints Director of Department of Education and Training

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh, was appointed to the position of director of the department after half a year of this position being vacant.

On the morning of March 3, the People's Committee of Thai Binh province held a conference to announce the decision to appoint Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh to hold the position of Director of the Department.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Chairman of Thai Binh Provincial People's Committee, requested the Department of Education and Training and its head to focus on studying the policies and regulations of the Party and State on the field of education and the province's practices to promptly advise the Provincial People's Committee on arranging and streamlining the sector's apparatus in the spirit of Resolution 18; develop a plan to conduct external assessment and recognition of schools meeting national standards, and implement the Politburo's direction on tuition exemption for students from preschool to high school; promptly advise on the implementation of regulations on extra teaching and learning; focus on directing the successful organization of the high school graduation exam in 2025...

Previously, at the end of September 2024, the People's Committee of Thai Binh province issued disciplinary decisions against leaders and managers of the Department of Education and Training. In particular, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien, member of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh, was disciplined by dismissal.

On November 12, 2024, the Secretariat decided to take disciplinary action by removing Mr. Hien from all positions in the Party.

Since Mr. Hien was removed from office, the position of head of the Thai Binh Department of Education and Training has been vacant for 6 months.

Previously, in August, Thai Binh province was in an uproar when nearly 1,600 students had their 10th grade exam scores incorrectly due to mismatched scores. Of these, 252 students went from failing to passing public exams...

After the inspection, the Department of Education and Training re-announced the exam scores of the candidates and organized the admission according to regulations. The total number of candidates approved for admission was 16,287. Of the 260 candidates who passed but failed, 141 were admitted to private grade 10 schools, 73 were enrolled in continuing education. Of the remaining 16, 3 did not enroll, and 13 did not register for any school before the inspection.

The above "scandal" was exposed when some parents reported that the exam had many irregularities.
