Groundbreaking ceremony of Hon La International General Port Phase I

(QBĐT) - On the morning of March 21, in Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, the groundbreaking ceremony of Hon La International General Port (BCTHQTHL) phase I took place. Attending the ceremony were comrades: Le Ngoc Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Tran Hai Chau, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Tran Phong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council; leaders of departments, branches, units and localities.

Also attending the ceremony were comrades: Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Le Minh Dao, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Maritime and Inland Waterways Administration; and representatives of central ministries, departments and branches.

The BCTHQTHL project is located in Hon La Economic Zone (EZ) with Hon La Port Joint Stock Company as the investor. The project has a total area of over 39 hectares, with a total investment of VND 2,299 billion; including 4 berths, receiving ships with a capacity of up to 70,000 DWT and international passenger ships of 225,000 GT. The project is divided into 2 phases, of which phase 1 will be completed in the first quarter of 2026, and phase 2 will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2027.

With the goal of investing in building the BCTHQTHL to serve Hon La Economic Zone, industrial parks in the province, and at the same time being an important freight transit bridge in the region, receiving two-way goods from Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, China and major economic centers by sea... the investor commits that the BCTHQTHL Project will come into operation in June 2026 and complete the entire phase 1 in December 2026.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the provincial leaders, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Phong acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and determination of Hon La Port Joint Stock Company in promptly completing legal procedures, meeting the conditions to soon start the project. At the same time, he commended the efforts and endeavors of the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, relevant departments and branches; especially Quang Trach district, which has directed strongly and basically completed the site clearance work, creating conditions for the commencement of construction of this important project.

Investor Hon La Port Joint Stock Company and Vietnam Development Bank Branch in Quang Binh signed a commitment to provide credit.

To ensure the progress and quality of the project, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the investor to fulfill its commitments, implement the project in accordance with the approved investment policy, ensure safety, efficiency, fully meet the requirements on technique, quality, progress of the project and comply with the provisions of law, promptly complete and put the project into operation; pay attention to social security work, prioritize job creation for people in the project area.

He also requested the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, relevant departments, branches and sectors, and Quang Trach district authorities to continue to accompany and support investors in the project implementation process; promptly remove difficulties and obstacles, and create the most favorable conditions for investors to implement the project on schedule.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: Along with the whole country, Quang Binh sets a target of economic growth of at least 8% in 2025. With an investment scale of over 2,000 billion VND, the BCTHQTHL project is a key project, of great significance to the socio-economic development of Quang Binh province. Provincial leaders, all levels and sectors are committed to always accompany and support investors throughout the process of project implementation and operation.

He believes that with its favorable location in terms of sea routes and road traffic, the BCTHQTHL will not only play an important role in freight transport but also have the function of receiving international cruise ships, opening up opportunities for developing sea tourism... After completion and put into use, it will become an important driving force, contributing to the stronger development of Quang Binh in the future.

Hon La Port Joint Stock Company donated the Scholarship Fund and gifts to disadvantaged students of Quang Dong commune.

At the ceremony, provincial leaders and delegates witnessed the investor and the Vietnam Development Bank Branch in Quang Binh sign a commitment to provide credit; and at the same time, perform the groundbreaking ceremony of the BCTHQTHL Project.

On this occasion, Hon La Port Joint Stock Company supported 50 million VND to the Quang Dong Commune Education Promotion Fund and presented 20 bicycles to students in difficult circumstances, helping them have means of transportation to school.
