In recent days, Uong Bi City has been actively implementing two street renovation projects, Hoang Quoc Viet Street and Thanh Son Street, achieving the set progress. This result stems from many factors, including the unanimous support of the local people.
The section of Hoang Quoc Viet street from Trung Doan bridge to Tue Tinh street is approximately 1.18km long, passing through 4 residential areas of Thanh Son ward; the total number of households affected by the renovation project is 166. The renovation project of Thanh Son street from the intersection of Tran Hung Dao street to Tue Tinh street is approximately 1.38km long; affecting 241 households.
Determining the progress and quality of the project depends heavily on the consensus of the people. As soon as the city announced its plan to implement the project, Thanh Son ward and the residential areas held meetings, provided specific information to the people, and simultaneously carried out propaganda and mobilization efforts to create consensus among the residents. The residential areas also strengthened community monitoring teams, regularly coordinating with the construction unit and the ward to inspect and supervise the construction site regarding the implementation of construction methods and ensuring environmental safety and hygiene during the construction process. The City's Investment and Construction Project Management Board directed project officers to closely monitor the site, promptly address any arising issues, and require contractors to minimize activities that negatively impact the daily lives and businesses of the residents.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoan, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Thanh Son Ward, said: Thanks to the implementation of comprehensive solutions and efforts from the grassroots level to the city level, the construction process of the two projects to renovate Hoang Quoc Viet Street and Thanh Son Street has received high consensus and agreement from the people. Many households have taken the lead in cooperating and creating favorable conditions for land clearance, providing land for the construction unit. For example, Ms. Vu Thi Tam (Group 1, Area 8) agreed to demolish her entire single-story house and donate nearly 80 square meters of land for the Hoang Quoc Viet Street renovation project. Ms. Dam Thi Thuong's family (Group 1, Area 8) also demolished part of their kiosk along Hoang Quoc Viet Street to hand over the land for road expansion.
Along with the two street renovation projects on Hoang Quoc Viet and Thanh Son streets, in 2024 Uong Bi City also implemented five other basic construction projects: the riverside road, Provincial Road 338, the extended Yen Tu road, the road leading to the City Military Command headquarters, and the land exchange project for the Provincial Prison. All of these projects have largely received the support of the people in donating land and structures for site clearance to facilitate construction.
The voluntary consensus and willingness of the people of Uong Bi City to donate land and structures to facilitate the implementation of basic infrastructure projects affirms the correctness of the policy and the appropriate approach, which is supported by the people. This result in Uong Bi also demonstrates the awareness and responsibility of the Party committees and authorities from the city level to the grassroots in leading and directing, fostering consensus, creating unity, and arousing a sense of responsibility among the people to work together with the local government to invest in and upgrade technical infrastructure and transportation.
