The landscape and cultural features of Thuong Yen Cong are considered as a potential area for the city to aim to build and develop this place into an eco-tourism area at the foot of Yen Tu.
Ms. Bui Thi Kim Thuy, Secretary of the Party Committee of Thuong Yen Cong Commune, said: We still preserve the villages and hamlets of the Dao ethnic group, the ancient Dao writing and language, the traditional sewing and embroidery craft, the old couplets and love songs; weddings and village festivals still cook traditional feasts, compete in throwing balls and pushing sticks... Of course, some things have faded away. However, when the cultural foundation is still preserved, we still have the opportunity to restore and develop, determined to realize the orientation of becoming a tourism buffer zone of the Yen Tu tourism center that the city has set out.
According to the Tourism Development Project of Thuong Yen Cong Commune, the locality will have Khe Song - Thac Bac natural landscape eco-tourism, Dao ethnic cultural houses in some villages with large Dao ethnic groups, Dao ethnic cultural art troupes, a model of restaurants, cuisine and health care according to Dao ethnic folk medicine, local markets or traditional markets, native apricot forests, traditional apricot wine processing models... To promote this orientation, in recent years, the city has provided funding for Thuong Yen Cong Commune to collect and utilize tangible and intangible culture, build Khe Su II Village Cultural House, and at the same time create conditions for community tourism models in the locality to develop.
Typically, the city opened the Dao Thanh Y Cultural Space Exhibition House in Khe Su II village in August 2024, with 5 cultural spaces: Space to display male and female costumes of the Dao Thanh Y ethnic group; space to introduce the Dao Thanh Y ethnic ordination ceremony; model of the Dao Thanh Y rammed earth house; space to display the kitchen corner of the Dao Thanh Y people; space to display some images and artifacts associated with the life, activities and culture of the Dao Thanh Y people. The Dao Thanh Y ethnic community cooperative group invested by Ms. Truong Thi Thanh Huong is a community tourism model that is attracting visitors with culinary services, foot baths, herbal baths of the Dao Thanh Y people, serving Vietnamese cultural performances, community sports according to the needs of visitors...
Thuong Yen Cong Commune is calling for investors to deploy a number of models of gardens and fruit forests to create landscapes, focusing on apricot forests and citrus trees; build a Dao ethnic art troupe; continue to invest in and renovate the landscape of the Thanh Y Dao Cultural Space Exhibition House in Khe Su II village with gravel walls, stone gates, and rammed earth houses. Every month, the Thanh Y Dao Cultural Space Exhibition House organizes cultural and culinary exchange activities, first to serve the needs of local people, then to form cultural products to attract tourists. Ms. Bui Thi Kim Thuy, Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, affirmed: In March 2025, the commune will organize the Dao Ethnic Cultural Festival, including cultural and culinary exchange activities taking place at night, creating a tourism product of the commune.
Based on the unique advantages of the relatively dense indigenous cultural capital, plus the geographical advantage at the foot of Yen Tu mountain, the cluster of relics and special national landscapes on the way to becoming a world heritage, Thuong Yen Cong has the opportunity to develop tourism economy, becoming an indispensable destination for tourists when coming to Uong Bi in general, and the land of Yen Tu Buddha in particular.
