Exploiting data to effectively serve digital transformation

According to Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, digital transformation creates a new type of resource: data. This is the key factor for successful digital transformation.
Data creates the foundation for digital transformation Realizing the importance of digital data, the Ministry of Information and Communications has advised the Prime Minister to approve the 'National Data Strategy to 2030'. This is an important strategy in Vietnam's digital transformation process, aiming to build a data infrastructure, a new infrastructure as the foundation for national digital transformation.

Mr. Tran Minh Tan, Deputy Director in charge of the Institute of Information and Communications Strategy (Ministry of Information and Communications) said that, issued in early February 2024, the main idea of the strategy is data-oriented, taking data as the center to carry out activities related to the development of infrastructure and data-based platforms. "Data infrastructure with open data, big data, structured data and unstructured data will create the foundation for digital transformation, for the development of artificial intelligence applications. The consistent idea is that the State plays a leading and orienting role so that all people participate in data development and together benefit from data," Mr. Tran Minh Tan shared. The national data strategy has the following goals: Developing public data, organizing exploitation and sharing to serve social development; Developing private data, creating a data market and also aiming at economic development. At the same time, it is also necessary to protect data security and exploit cross-border data flow resources, so that data stays in Vietnam. An important task that ministries, branches and localities need to quickly implement is to announce the list of open data, big data and the data strategy framework of their ministries and provinces, or integrate the content of data development strategy in the annual digital transformation projects and plans of ministries, branches and localities to implement synchronously with the national data strategy. "This is very important, creating conditions for agencies, organizations and enterprises to participate in developing, sharing, exploiting and using data of ministries and provinces", emphasized the representative of the Institute of Information and Communications Strategy. Finding solutions for data storage and processing in the digital transformation era From the perspective of enterprises, Mr. Dang Van Tu, CTO of CMC Global Company, said that the digital transformation picture in Vietnam and the Asian region is taking place positively and strongly. In which, data is the key factor for organizations and businesses to successfully transform digitally.

“Every digital transformation problem is related to data. Data storage may be simple, but data processing is different. Depending on the purpose, there needs to be a data reservoir as well as effective mining tools and processing methods,” said Mr. Dang Van Tu.
Effective data mining will create big changes for businesses and many businesses participating in digital transformation have achieved remarkable achievements. However, many businesses do not know where to start digital transformation, how to store and mine data to be both effective and ensure information security. This happens more often in businesses with limited financial resources and human resources. “The increasing volume of data and the need for real-time decision making pose a problem that requires businesses to have a more advanced form of automation. Not only adapting to changes, this solution also needs to learn from interactions and make smart decisions. This is where AI comes into play,” said Mr. Luong Anh Tuan, Director of Business Process Automation (BPA) at CMC Global. "By integrating BPA into artificial intelligence (AI), businesses can automate complex processes that traditional methods could not do before, helping to increase competitiveness in the context of rapid technological development like today," added Mr. Luong Anh Tuan. To solve the problem of optimizing business operations towards the goal of better supporting customers in controlling and processing data, CMC technology experts have applied AI technology, automation, low code, and converting cloud computing infrastructure to reduce server load. Processes that were once manual such as data entry, filling out paperwork, etc. have now been automated, helping to save time, resources, and operating costs. Meanwhile, Director of MISA Business Center Nguyen Ngoc Le affirmed: Organizing and exploiting data well will help businesses operate better, improve competitiveness, and increase productivity many times over, especially when data is processed using AI. “In many businesses, each department and division uses different solutions, so they cannot connect with each other, leading to information having to be re-entered and data fragmentation. In addition, some solutions are only suitable for a stage of business development, and when they need to be replaced, it is difficult to inherit previous data. In particular, small and medium-sized enterprises still have difficulty accessing comprehensive ERP solutions (systems that apply information technology to improve the efficiency of management and organization of business activities of enterprises) due to high costs and redundant features,” said Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Le.
