At the Vietnam Tech Impact Summit 2024 (VTIS) taking place on December 3-4 in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung - Chairman of the Board of Directors of SSI Securities Corporation gave a speech sharing about the current development status of the digital asset market in Vietnam and the need to perfect the legal framework to develop this financial product.
In the development trend of technology in general and the digital asset market in particular, Vietnam is rising thanks to the young workforce and passion of young people. According to the latest research by Forbes, Vietnamese people rank second in the world in terms of ownership and interest in digital assets. According to information from the 10 largest exchanges in the world participating in the VTIS 2024 Conference, Vietnam is the market with the top 4 trading volume in the world.
VTIS is a technology event organized by SSI Digital, managed by FPT Corporation and SSI Securities Corporation.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung said that this is no longer a technological solution, the stories of ideas and digital assets have entered the lives of every family in Vietnam. However, if tangible assets can be managed through customs and borders to prevent them from going abroad, digital assets have no borders and can be brought to any country if Vietnam does not have a legal basis to preserve, develop and ensure their existence in the country.
From the perspective of a business participating in development, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung said that government support to build a transparent legal framework is necessary for businesses and entrepreneurs to promote the digital asset sector.
“We need a transparent legal framework so that developers and investors are protected, transparent, no one can deceive anyone, no one can profit from tricks in the market,” Mr. Hung emphasized. For international organizations, perfecting the legal framework to develop the digital asset market will promote cooperation, “when organizations fly in, they will see what they can contribute and what benefits they can get.”
Based on the arguments about the need to perfect the legal framework when considering the rights and interests of the participants in the digital asset market, SSI Chairman Nguyen Duy Hung stated the view that “we need to arouse the patriotic movement of a young population with a passion for technology that can contribute to the country. To do that, we must have a digital asset market. Because assets are only created when they are recognized, have the right to freely decide, buy and sell, and exchange, then they can attract resources and be contributed by participants”. Therefore, developing a legal framework for the digital asset market is very necessary and urgent.
Mr. Truong Gia Binh - Chairman of the Board of Directors of FPT Corporation affirmed that our world is entering a historical period with many unprecedented changes. Workers may face a future where 75% of their jobs will disappear by 2030. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is having a profound impact on the labor market, changing the way workers work and the skill requirements of workers. People need to adapt to this change by learning and improving their skills, mastering AI and technology in the working process.
According to Mr. Truong Gia Binh, in that context, Vietnam is very fortunate that our country has unprecedented opportunities. Vietnam has a lot of potential to develop the information technology industry. In particular, Vietnam has abundant human resources, ready to learn. Mr. Binh commented: "In the era of artificial intelligence, many other companies will continue to choose Vietnam as their home."
Mr. Binh chose the keyword “Data” because all technologies develop around data. Data is a valuable resource for Vietnam and the world. Data is the “oil” of the future, whoever knows how to exploit, process, and use it can conquer new heights.
